Yes I know I didn't buy a jeep for gas mileage,... Duhhh.. Getting a 2.5 inch Metal Cloak game changer lift installed soon. Currently have 255/75/17 stock rims and tires on my 2021 Willys. Yes I do want to go to a bigger tire. I know 35's are cool but don't want to lose too much gas mileage or performance. So I ask the question? What are you guys running that didn't hurt the fuel/wallet, that bad. My Tacoma had cooper 285/70/17's i think?? Max i got was 17 mpg on the highway... Jeep does ggod now so I want to go up in size but not so much i drop the the MPG's! I can live with 17-18-19 MPG on the highway, around town no big deal sooo, what you guys got??

I've got 37" BFG KO2s and get 17+ on the highway unless I'm really laying into it.

17+ on 37’s is awesome! Do you have 3.73 gears or 4.10? Just curious as some here say I hear change is needed for 35’s and up??

I went up to 285/70/17 on stock alloy sport wheels with 4.10 gears….I averaged 18.7 mpg on the highway going 65-75 mph on my trip but mostly 70 mph (including Appalachian foothills w/ 30 degree weather). I average about 15 mpg around town (all flat).

That’s all with a 1.5” level kit as well if it even matters much.

I think that you might find that a 255/80R17 looks really small after the 2.5" GC lift is installed.

I run 255/80R17 KM2s on a 2-door JKR with a 2" lift, and they work well, but they certainly don't look 'beefy' at all.

My Willy’s has 3.73’s last road trip with stock 255/75/17’s got me 20+ mpg, flat and rolling terrain. I’m looking to do with a taller 33 in tire and hope not to lose to much mpg. Stock tire is BFG Mt2’s. They ride good but only have 2k on the truck so can’t say much about wear. My wife did notice the hum at 70 to 75 mph.

I have Falken Wildpeaks on my JT and they’re quiet so far. I’m only at 6k miles with them, but I haven’t noticed any wear. They weigh 64 lbs which is about as heavy as I wanna go on a 33” tire. Any heavier, and I might as well go with a 35” tire.

Overall, I think if your new tire is an AT vs an MT, you’ll be better off fuel consumption wise.

All the 255/80/17 are Load E. It may be a rough ride compared to stock tires.

I have 35/12.5/17. 3.73 gears. My overall mpg for the past 2000 miles is 17. That includes at least 10 min of warming up in the mornings lately. And plenty of snow shenanigans.

Looking at Toyo AT3 in a 285/85/17 what do you think?

Oops! 285/75/17 I mean
I ran those for 15k miles, I got the same mpg with those as I get with 35s they are great tires but look a little small on the JT.

I might be wrong, but wouldn't tire/wheel weight have most to do with mpg?
