First time ride in snow/ice

I’m not sure why I was snapped at for agreeing with you guys. LSD in the snow is a beautiful thing and so is the BLD. I had a CUCV with a Detroit locker in it and it sucked on a wet new blacktop surface. The BLD is probably better than the others because not only does it transfer torque to the wheel not spinning but it uses the brake to slow the one that is spinning potentially giving it a chance to gain traction.

This is what qualifies as a snow storm in TN.

We just had a bunch of ice and snow here in Ct. went through it like nothing all in 2 wheel high. I have Firestone XT tires there pretty good. 3 peak snow rated 10ply E there rugged. I was going to get MTs but they told me you would float all over the road in snow, ice and even rain. Mus tires are for mud I guess lol.

Eh, not true for all. I've had good luck with the Wildpeak M/T in Michigan. I've learned to stay within the capabilities on icy or snowy road. I haven't found them to float, unless they meant hydroplane.

Ah, but you'd have better luck with tires made and engineered more for snow and ice.
It's like running on second best compared to what could be........
There's a reason certain tires are engineered for certain conditions, rubber compounds are different and so on. Otherwise, one tire would be perfect for everything.
