So the 2021 has these new door seals. If Jeep engineers thought it would help, figured I would try it. Went and bought some auto store special door seal material and recreated a similar seal. So far seems to be a definite improvement.

Tell me more...

Improvement to what? Need to know if I need to convert my $ into door seals. Haven't had an issue with leaking or wind (that I know of) in my 2020.

Thanks!

It's for the wind noise in the pillar area. Wind rushing past that gap makes noise. It's like blowing across the top of a bottle. Reduce the size or depth of the gap and you can quite the noise or make it less. These have a lot of wind noise. Jeep tends to leave those areas more open due to the removable doors, other vehicles often have a baffle in there besides the seal. It's similar to the reason there's a filler strip between the box and back of the cab.

Which picture is the 20 vs 21?

Can someone with a 21 see a part number on it?

Those are all of his truck - not a 21 with the new parts.
And it's interesting to note that they aren't weatherstripping at all but are plastic shields, open at the top, and they don't go the full length he has gone with his (and I did with mine based on Dave's post).
They are plastic baffles if nothing else. Not sure why they are open to the forward and top side. (NOT MINE - taken in a show room, a 2022)

That looks interesting. If it helps reduce any noise I'm always on board.

Now I just gotta figure out where to get them

Send Benny of allmoparparts (a forum sponsor) a picture, see what he says. He's got a thread here something about how may we help or something like that.......... you get decent discounts on real MOPAR/JEEP stuff as he's a Jeep parts guy. Everything I have bought from him has saved me money and been just as if I went to my local dealer - but cheaper.

I have these on my 21. They are fairly hard plastic, so I can't image they will do much for noise. They are simply channels designed to catch the inevitable water leak at the corner and direct it down toward the footwell instead of it dripping straight down.

They are too far in for that, IMO. Water still drips from mine into the truck - even though I have put the same weather strip that Dave used on his on my truck. It's quieter now, but water drops right past it onto the floor of the truck. It sits inside the drip rail area, not under it.
When my batteries are done charging I'll put a plumb bob on mine...... but my weather strip like Dave used actually sticks out FARTHER than the channels on the 21 I took a pic of.
Yes, it looks like a channel, but just the pics alone show how far inside they sit compared to the edge of the roof.
The top edge of that plastic doesn't even stick out beyond the roll cage!

You've completely missed the point of these channels, but I understand it can be tough to see another point of view.

They aren't to catch the drip from the roof drip rail that occurs when you open the door. They are there for the leak that occurs at the corners with the doors closed. It's completely evident that the Jeep engineers are tweaking the seals in this area. For example, there is an additional piece on the pics you posted that isn't on my 2021.

I see your not so subtle dig - but this isn't a 'point of view' thing.
This is a "what leak?" thing because mine hasn't had a problem other than wind noise.
Maybe it's addressing the TSB on wind noise and leaks? That's all ya had to say "maybe this addresses the TSB about water leaks",
Mine has wind noise, but no leaks.
Even with a car wash or a torrential rain (like driving in August 2020), there's never any water that enters so this must be an issue with some and not all.

So you are saying these have leaks with the roof correctly installed and the doors closed?

The last picture is my wife's 2021 HA 4xe, which is extremely quiet inside. I noticed she had considerable less pillar wind noise than my truck and it was less drafty going down the interstate. One night I stuck my fingers up there and noticed this seal/driprail. I was gonna buy the parts. The parts where cheap but for whatever reason shipping was like 100 dollars. I comprimised and bought 40 dollar automotive seal material.

Mine is also a bit quieter with that weatherstrip in there. I never had any leaks - no water ever entered save for door open, from the drip rail. No water leaks at all but wind noise - a lot. It's better now. I bought the exact same stuff, O'Reilly's for 27 bucks.
