Need help how do I track the build of my truck I order it 3-8-22
Only way to actually get the build status is from your dealer. You can use your VIN on cryptostickers to see if your build sheet and/or window sticker has been generated yet. There’s other sites that you can use to search for build sheet/window sticker as well if you google. Search for ‘jeep build sheet using VIN’ or something similar. Good luck!

There's definitely something fishy with Jeep's ordering system. When I was building mine (but not committing to it yet) I noticed that every time I went in to create the same build, something different was required or not available. I could only get black wheels, or I'd have to add a tonneau cover to get a certain top (how that's related I'm not sure?). The next time that would no longer be required, but something else would. I had to get the slush mats because I ordered A/T tires (which ended up being a good thing) but there was no apparent rhyme or reason to why stuff was suddenly mandatory, and other times weren't, but something else was.

For the record, I have a 21 manual with cold weather package, so they were definitely blowing smoke up your ass, or their funky system was requiring it that day.

For the dual top group, it is required because the soft top comes in a big cardboard box in the bed.

That is still kind of a silly reason, but I guess at least it’s a reason.. just don’t think you should have to spend an extra $1,000 because the manufacturer doesn’t want cardboard getting wet

Exposure to the elements is certainly an issue, and with the amount of time between when a vehicle ships from the factory, arrives at the dealer, and is picked up by the buyer, the chances for the soft top packaging coming apart, losing parts, or simply disappearing completely would be pretty high.

You’re not wrong, but it’s not like the dealer couldn’t bring the box inside until the buyer picks up

You would think but dealerships tend to loose, damage, pilfer and misplace stuff that is ship with a vehicle with the intention of putting back at delivery. Never dealing with the same person twice that took something out to store awaiting delivery.

Prime example is the Jeep Trail Rated kit bags that a lot of dealers will remove to store for "safe keeping" and then cannot find them because they got legs and walked. I have had two Jeeps that came with the kit on the sticker and in both instances from two separate dealerships, they were scrambling to find them. One had to order a new one from parts and the other dealership just took one out of a recent lot delivery and threw into mine for delivery.

That is assuming that the box isn't already destroyed (or stolen) by the time it gets to the dealer. You may want to check out the order/build/tracking guide to get an idea of the process, but after the vehicle comes off the assembly line, it can be quite some time before it arrives at the dealer. During that time, it may sit out on a parking lot somewhere, sit on a railcar (that may or may not be moving) for a while, get loaded onto one of those big auto transport semi trailers and hauled down the interstate...

Well... I guess you and hootbro make some pretty good points. Like I said, it's nice to hear an actual reason for why something is required.. I bet a lot of dealers wouldn't even know why they do that.
