The power has been out for hours due to a significant rain and wind event, but it’s all good in the ‘hood thanks to whoever at Jeep proposed this cool little feature ?
Listening to Corb Lund’s new album with the fire roaring and a cold local IPA in hand…..I’m in zero hurry for the power to be restored!
Cheers ?

In the words of George Carlin - "Holy shit, I hope I can get tickets to that!"

Seriously though, if you live in an area where there's a chance for the power to go out on any sort of expected basis (flood, tornado, hurricane) having a way to keep yourself sane is almost as important as having a way to store and cook your food. Bluetooth speakers are good for that. Portable batteries are good too. I have one for airplane travel (largest size you can take on an airplane without explicit airline approval) and a bigger one that doubles as a jump starter.

Good tip ?. I’m not exactly a ‘prepper’ but I try to be prepared. I lose power for extended periods several times a year, and every time it happens I commit to getting a natural gas generator with an automatic transfer switch. I don’t have one yet ?
Last winter the power was out for around 14 hours at -30C (-22F). Luckily I was home and could keep the fire going, and along with the gas stove and gas fireplace and propane heater the house was quite cozy (and I didn’t even get carbon monoxide poisoning as a bonus).

I'm not much of a prepper either. Both my battery packs are multi purpose. Like I said one is for flights, one is primarily a jump pack because I hate having to park close to someone else to jump them, don't like connecting my truck to random cars, and the pack takes up less space than jumper cables.

My wife fires up Sirius on her phone, connects to her Blast in her sewing room.............
With our phones and battery packs we're good for a while.
And if it's off longer term, the generator gets started.
I'm not sure how long her Blast speaker would keep going as BT and the speaker itself take some power, but it'll go a while anyway. And I have one of those little phone battery boosters to keep the phones going for a while.

I guess I’m the prepper. During a complete gut home remodel, we spent the coin on a whole home generator with transfer switch. So far the only action it has seen is when it self-powers up every other week for 5 minutes just to keep everything fresh.

We were advised - twice - not to run our heat pump system on a generator.
They said it's too dirty, so if we ever take the plunge, it will be a true sine wave double conversion setup with generator keeping the batteries charged (maybe with solar)
Too many electronics and that heat pump is sensitive as far as the electronics.

Will take a hefty generator to run things here. Our 200 amp panel is maxed out. (and my shop has some electronics as well)
Got my wife's stuff covered with the double-conversion backup supply, thankfully, a couple of times we lost power while she was in the middle of running the quilting machine.
