Driving from Phoenix to Houston with essentially my house loaded onto a trailer. We have a very small house and very little furniture. Weight figures are probably over estimates but I'd rather plan for worst case and be under.

2022 Rubicon gas, automatic. weight online says 5050lbs.
Pulling 1600lb trailer that will be loaded up to around 6000lbs MAX (trailer rated at 7000lbs)
Tongue weight of around 750lbs(ish)
I believe the payload of the Rubicon is 1200lbs
So 1200lbs minus 750lbs(ish) minus me and dog 250lbs equals 200lbs left to spare. Thats a few twix bars and cans of red bull for the road!

My math says that you are good. Getting close but good. Watch your 'Frontal Area' on the trailer. It does make a huge difference. So does every mph after 65!
Safe travels!

Tongue weight 10-15%. You are going on the heavy side for 6,000 pounds.
Your Rubicon is rated for a max of 700 pounds tongue weight. I'd reduce that tongue weight.

6,000 pound trailer with load, I'd shoot for a bit over 600 pound tongue weight, about 11%, personally. You'll be heavy on the rear otherwise, and unless you use a weight distributing hitch, you'll be really light on steering

Thanks for the info! Yeah I’m doing a lot of best guess estimates. I wanted to buy one of the hitches with a scale built in but can’t justify the price.
Im going to have to do the eye ball test and work out the load as I go along

It's a simple scale. It has a chamber with oil, and a piston that's exactly 1 square inch. The pressure gauge reads in PSI - pounds per square inch. Since the piston is 1 square inch, it will read 500 if there are 500 pounds pressing down on it.

That scale looks great, going to pick one up!

Also. Overall length of car and trailer laws are hilariously different state to state. 40ft. 65ft. 75ft. Seen them all

these Jeeps never seem to arrive with the payload we expect after options. I see Rubi owners with only 900 poundos of payload when it arrives.

Your estimate is based on a Rubi WITHOUT a single option or change added. NOTHING.

PS: Dont forget that 1600 poundos of trailer is part of the tow weight so you can only add 4400 to that trailer. Max. The anti. sway will add weight also. At the weight you are carrying it is required by law in most states.

FYI..My added factory options on my Max Tow dropped the payload 150 pounds from published. Then tonneau cover dropped it another 75 pounds. This is all before anything related to the trailer.

Until your Rubi actually arrives and you have the door sticker number, no one can say your numbers are correct.

Drive safe!!! :)

Already have the Rubi.
Have added zero weight to it. Bone stock.
Trailer gross weight is 7000lbs.
Won’t be using anti sway - can’t find anything about a law that requires it either.
Think that covers it lol

To be safe, and if available, find a truck stop and pay the few bucks to drive across the scale and weigh the total load. A few $ now could save a lot down the road. Around this area they are about $7 to weigh.

You won't necessarily need ant-sway on a flatbed or cargo trailer that is well loaded and has a fairly long axle to ball distance.
I've only ever used that on my campers, never on a flatbed/car hauler or other.

The payload will be shown on the sticker on your door jamb. you can't go by the advertised payload as that's for the base model, the stripped down version of your truck, 0 options.

For towing - go by the owners manual chart.

For payload - go by the door jamb sticker, not any other number, not the charts online -
(this example has a payload of 1031 pounds, no matter what anything else says. Payload is individual for each truck. No one can tell you what your payload is without opening your drivers door and looking at this -

Jeep Gladiator Is my math correct? payload-sticker

Around this area, you'll wait for an hour or so LOL
We're at the intersection of I80 and I35 and the truck traffic, heavy and light and everything in between, including campers and travelers, is crazy.
