Alaska Daily Drivers: Hydro Blue 80A and Bright White JTR

Weekends are for exploration. Megan, the pup, and I got back after it. This weekend we went to see the Gulf of Alaska as it's been starting to freeze up for the season.

Here are some pics of the trip!

We left home Saturday morning at 6a heading to Valdez, Alaska. The drive was gorgeous, but it was chilly out!

Thompson Pass at ~2,700' is a great spot for pics!

The waterfalls were a clear indicator of winter

As we rolled into Valdez, the locals were there to greet us:

We hadn't eaten outside of some cliff bars, so we grabbed lunch after the 5 hour drive and went to the pier to eat and soak it all in:

Sufficiently fed, we went for.... Beer!

After a couple breweries, we went to find a place to camp. We had some tent beers and played cards before crashing for the night:

The diesel heater is waaaaay overkill for the size roof top tent we have. On the lowest setting we were cooking! So we shed clothes and didn't use blankets. Sauna style I guess? I cracked a vent and that helped the pup sleep and live his best life.

Morning came early. Megan made tasty pancakes with bourbon syrup

We heard a truck stuck off in the distance. We ended up finding them and winching them out of the muck. They'd been stuck for 5 hours trying to get out with only logs and a hi-lift:

After that, we started the drive home. Just as pretty as the drive in!

Another successful weekend and cold weather camp! Only 9 breweries left in the state we haven't made it to yet.

Some garage time today.

Here's what the lighting situation was at camp in the blue Jeep last weekend:

Not a ton of light. And not a lot on the tailgate which we use a quick work station when the table is stowed.

Here's what it's like when you have the patience to hit unlock on the key fob or open and close the Jeep door:

That game got old REAL fast!

With the KC lights added, we'll be more than ready!

While I was in the bed, I mounted the Noco. It needs a longer charger cable to clean up the wiring. I'll get one in due time.

This is the solar setup switch bank. This is what the new bed lighting is controlled by. It won't time out and annoy you

Ran into some trouble with the LRA aux tank. Turns out the proper parts weren't ordered by the local company I purchased through. Delays will continue.

I did take advantage of the KC Hilites 15% off sale to get the complete lighting package for Eeevaa, our white JTR.

It started snowing in our neck of woods, it's incredible. We love it.

In case you haven't heard, it snows here. This is a foot and half in a day.

Getting it out of the driveway made a great scene tho!

I'm still waiting on the exhaust piece that's needed for the LRA Aux Tank install. With the crazy amount of snow, the airport has been closed/delayed. The part is sitting in CA.

However, that doesn't mean I can't get started on some things.... Like the switch!

Megan and I couldn't agree on a spot. I even bought an external pod that would mount the switch on a panel vs in a panel.. and that didn't work either.

I didn't want to lose the 12v socket, but it was the best place for the switch. No worries, just move the 12v socket

And so... The aux tank switch was mounted.

And the socket was moved.
