I'd first look into replacing the front bumper, maybe a winch, and getting some better side armor. Then take it out, and learn what the limitations you face, and upgrade from that.

I did this too. I do plan (when I remember to) wire in a manual switch. In the mean time, it’s part of my trail prep routine… comment the winch while deflators are doing their job. After trail, disconnect winch while compressor is airing up ties…. Too easy!
There is really no way to damage by over-torquing... They should have a sleeve to prevent that. Now, if they were torqued while hanging, and not with the weight of the vehicle on them, that might do them in like that.
