I’ve owned 9 since 1990. The longest, is the 2005 TJ… we’ve had it since new, 20 years now. Oldest was a 1964 Wagoneer, that one was a beast. Favorite is the JT.

The Wildpeaks would have my vote… we have them on our wrangler and are extremely quiet, and actually did well in our Alabama mud
I'd say it's just a monitor level at this point. If it is corrosion, it will spread out slowly, so save the picture, and compare over the next couple months.
