It's like this:
Buying straight out (no trade):
$50,000 new Ford Truck
-$10,000 discount since you're paying cash
=====
$40,000 new Ford truck (out of pocket, in actual dollars)
--Now, instead of buying outright, let's say you want to trade in your JT that you paid $45,000 for some months...
Good luck with your new truck. Some duties really do require a full size truck instead of a mid like the JT.
However, “trade-in” values often include a lot of fluff that you typically would have received as a “cash discount” and thus are totally unreliable as indicators of value. Ford trucks...
I read that the JL tubes were .282" (7.1mm), and JT axle tubes were .4" (10.1mm). Let me try to find a source.
EDIT: Here are some bits of publicized info regarding JT/JL axle tubes:
Dynatrac says: "JL axle tubes are 2.75" diam x .282" thickness (so JL has 7.1mm thick tube walls, as...
Just FYI -- The Mojave doesn't have thicker tubed axles than the Rubicon -- they are the same. Both the Rubicon and the Mojave have the same, thicker axle tubes than are found on the other JT's*.
*Not sure about the MaxTow package axles available on the Sport -- I know they are Rubicon/Mojave...
I am of the same thinking.
I like the Mojave, but NOT at the same price point as the Rubicon. For the same money, I think the Rubicon offers a lot more value.
Honestly, the Mojave would have been plenty of truck for me, but if I am spending Rubicon-size dollars, might as well get a Rubicon.
I thought the 'rear frame strengthening' on the Mojave consisted of just extra welds, and not any extra metal on the rails. Yes, they changed some of the mounting points (spring / shock mounts, etc), but I thought the rails themselves were the same, just with more weld points. That said, it...
So was the FAD permanently locked 'on'/engaged somehow? As I mentioned, it seems pointless to have 'full time' 4wd with a free-spinning disconnected axle.
Does anyone know if the Full Time 4wd option still retains the Front Axle Disconnect (FAD)?
Seems like the FAD would be at odds with a full-time 4wd setup, but it would also seem to be expensive to create and inventory a completely different front axle assembly (with different RH axle shafts)...
This is one I’m looking at too. Looks perfect.
Anyone have any thoughts about how to protect the tailgate? It gets a lot of sliding wear, and I’m concerned those “stick-on” carpet “bed rug” pieces won’t stay on the tailgate in the unrelenting extreme heat we get down here in the desert.
Yeah, I'm not angry at all. Multi-tasking and probably not being very mindful of how "tone" gets lost in text.
Anyways, I don't disagree that a painted bed is pretty fragile, as I intend to at least install a bed mat, even though it would be extremely rare that I carry anything more "sharp"...
You said to YOU, the bed is just a tool. However, not every pickup truck is "work" truck, a simple non-emotional tool (like a hammer) that spends its life hauling lumber and gravel every day, and has no value outside its standard utility.
Unless you think that people should only use their...
Since the radio is listed as a "highlight" and NOT under the "New" section, I would assume it is exactly like the 2020 radio -- i.e., no wireless CarPlay/AA.
That may be true, but perhaps the JT is a different pool of buyers than the typical 1/2 ton full-size truck market? I don't have data to back that claim up, but I would think that the JT would have more enthusiasts as a percentage than standard FS trucks, and thus would be more receptive to...
Not digging that color. Looks like "Glossy Primer". Not saying it shouldn't be offered, because everyone will have a different preference, but I would like more choices that are not a black or gray derivative. How many gray/black derivative colors should be offered, knowing that we're usually...
Normal. It is the same on the Wrangler 2020 configurator. On the JL Rubicon, diesels get 3.73's instead of 4.10's. Likely because the diesel works in a much smaller (and lower limit) rev band than the gas engines.
I don't disagree.
Unfortunate that they both raised the price of the Rubicon AND de-contented it like that. A bold move given that the Jeep's 1st real competitor is just a couple months away, and it's coming ready to fight.
With the removal of the standard 4:1 tcase, it seems like it is...
interesting that it shows that when building a Rubicon, you cannot get the Roctrack 4:1 tcase with the diesel. I hadn't heard that before.
Also shows that the 4:1 transfer case is now an OPTION ($695) on the Rubicon instead of standard. That's a big change. My error... didn't see that the...
