Looking at the instructions it does appear that the gray plug is what would have gone into the factory socket, so that is what you would want to cut off.
Essentially correct, but I would leave the fuse and terminal block (blue x) intact for future use.
You'll want to double check once you have the dash opened up, but I believe you would be cutting off the gray plug. Definitely double check though! It's been quite a while since I installed that...
If you are plugging that stuff in I would definitely just get the splitter harness, cut off the male end and butt splice it to the socket as I mentioned in my first post... .
That gives you the oem 20a output and leaves the 10a tap for something else
Yeah that was my original thought, but depending on what he wants to plug in, the QT splitter output is only rated for 10a.
If he uses the pass through end he can keep the oem 20a rating and have the 10a harness for other stuff.
If he's only ever going to charge a cell phone, then yeah, just...
You could do that, but to me you are still losing a high amperage output that you might be able to use down the road for something that actually needs it.
That socket you linked to from Amazon has a 10' lead, so unless you are trying to put the socket in the bed that's all the wiring you need.
Just get a couple of butt splices, cut off the male connector and you are in business, and you still have the fused 10a tap to hardwire something else
You could and you'd probably be OK, I'm just not sure the wire size is rated for 20a, where the splitter wires are as they were intended to pass the original 20a to the oem socket
Yeah, this will work fine for what you want to do, you just won't use the male plug that would normally go to the oem 12v socket.
There is one caveat though with this harness, the fused end on the tap is only 10a vs the factory 20a. Depending on what you want to use this for, that may not...
Hopefully they do make the changes, it seems strange to have an icon for nav when there is a physical button for it.
I don't use nav, or the radio at all so that would be kind of annoying.
You are right, it actually would be pretty cool to do something completely custom. I'd also thought about looking for an existing door that could be mirrored on both sides or make something from scratch.
Honestly, for me most of it comes down to time. I travel a lot for work, so most of the...
Yeah, I was having issues with Google maps not automatically going to dark mode. Around town for short drives it wasn't an issue, but anything over an hour or two its pretty fatiguing, especially when the screen doesn't dim very much.
I certainly hope they fix the app location issue, that...
To be honest, I hadn't really thought about the "real" forward body mount by the grill..
I found the part numbers On northridge4x4.com, they have a diagram showing where the bolt is. It's not in the screen capture, but they call out number 10 as being the forward body mount bolt below the a...
Man, that sucks.. I just did mine and I was blissfully unaware of this possibility...
I was thinking about replacing my bolts though after reading about these breaking but I'm debating on whether or not it's worth messing with them now ..
Benny can confirm but these are what I have in my cart...
Thanks. What finish did you go with? I'm looking at the blue dyed zinc plated, but that doesn't seem to be available for the 220mm, only the black oxide.
I just noticed your location is Vegas, so I guess you don't need to worry about rust really like I do lol..
I'm not sure I want to mess with...
