… Of course this wouldn’t stop me from moving forward with this. It’s just too cool. Same thing with a manual transmission. I just can’t help myself. : )
I really liked heavily photographed Stingrey Mopar Gladiator that was his show stealer at the LA auto show. (you know the one!) It appears to be set up almost identically to the Gravity.
2 inch lift : How could that be good for trailer stability?
35 inch tires : Again, taller sidewalls...
This today from FCA:
A Trailer Brake Controller is not offered on the 2020 Jeep Gladiator lineup as standard or optional equipment. As such, we would certainly encourage customers to contact a reputable RV Upfitter for any questions concerning the aftermarket installation of such a feature...
Not anymore. The pictured trailer brake controller has been removed and there is no longer a part number. FCA says go to an aftermarket supplier. Seriously!
And to answer above: the LA auto show had multiple Gladiators and none of them had the trailer brake controller.
This, while they’re opening sentence repeated best in class towing.
Not even a dealer installed option now!!!
I just came from the dealership to confirm. The pictured controller has been removed and there’s no longer a part number.
Today I got this letter from FCA:
“A Trailer Brake Controller is not offered on the 2020 Jeep Gladiator lineup as standard or...
I just now received this. Very surprising for a manufacturer using best-in-class towing as a selling point. Seriously??!
Dear Lance,
I appreciate the time and effort taken to contact the Jeep Information Center. It's great to read of your interest in the all-new 2020 Jeep Gladiator. Your...
I’m more worried about the power output of the Pentastar. I haven’t had anything less than a V-8 in a lot of years. Towing 4600 pounds regularly in the mountains has me concerned. Buying a gladiator is a bit of an emotional purchase for me. I sure hope it’s not a mistake.
That’s what I’m thinking. I am towing right at 5000 pounds but I’m typically in the Utah/Colorado mountains well above 8000 feet. I think waiting for the diesel with the turbo will be my best bet. I’ve been towing with a 5.3 Chevy V8 and I’m afraid the Pentastar will be too much of a downgrade...
This question may have to wait for diesel availability but:
If you’re typically towing, say, 5000 pounds or so, would you opt for the published better towing numbers with the Pentastar or go with the Eco Diesel with lower towing numbers but vastly more torque?
I’ve tried politely visiting four different dealerships with concise questions. My god! Car salesmen are consistently completely full of shit. Each experience has been nothing but patiently tolerating obvious lies and attempts at dishonesty. it’s very trying when you’re just looking for a fair...
I second that. Wait for a TFL real world review.
TFL is especially needed here since if you need more towing ability you are told to go with the engine that produces much less torque.
Engineers and lawyers aside. You can’t tell me that’s not bad advice, even when including cooling issues.
You know...Throughout various threads here, a general consensus is that if you want the most capable total vehicle, you should go for the max tow package with the small engine. I want better towing so I choose the smaller engine? Yes. I know what the engineers are saying about cooling but am I...
I would love to. I live in a historic district and a full size pickup won’t fit in my garage, hence the V8 Colorado. A short Raptor will barely fit but my dog prefers to go topless. I sure would like to make a Gladiator work. Wait for the diesel?
That’s what I am afraid of. I sure would like a manual but to be realistic, I think maybe I should wait for the diesel. From what I am gathering, the towing information islargely dictated by engineers and then the lawyers. I respect that, but, the elephant in the room isn’t really mentioning...
