Totally understand why someone would or would NOT get the recall. I personally will NOT, based on the issues I've read about ...until I've got 70K+ miles on my Jeep.
6-hours?? Hope the job is worth it!
I would have sold a long time ago just due to the MPG hit for a commute like that, so don't blame you... Good luck!
Market may vary, I sold my takeoffs with less than 500 miles on them for $400. Tried to go higher, but no takers after a few weeks on Craigslist, this forum, etc.
With already 10k miles on them, I'm sure they're valuable to somebody but not probably what you think.
My point was about occupant safety. A vehicle hitting a parked car is a jolt, but not life-threatening. A moving, opposing force collision will make stubby vs non irrelevant when it comes to whether the driver walks away vs not.
Thin pieces of metal (or plastic) strapped to the front of a vehicle does virtually nothing compared to the forces involved in even slow traffic collisions. Whether your tire is covered or not makes minimal difference.
It really is about appearance. With maybe weight a factor.
I think there's a reason Jeep insurance seems to be going up faster than other vehicles. Everyone's insurance is rising, but Jeep seems to be a bit faster, based on my research over the last week after Geico attempted the price-gouge, forcing me to leave. I'm not saying windshields may be part...
Safelite quotes me at $170 to fix a small chip. That seems high..?
Also, this Jeep windshield vulnerability thing is no joke. I've of course read about it, but figured "I'll never be that guy who goes through windshields like that". ...I'm only at 4k miles.
I looked at the 392 swap. First of all, it's in Michigan, so in addition to $35k, it's a 2000 mile drive each way, and probably 8mpg once that engine is in. Plus 3-4 days hotel room while they're doing it. Couple extra thousand $ in addition
I also noticed the price doesn't cover any front...
This is my biggest concern... Trying to "buy" the Mojave suspension on a Willys will be an expensive gamble.
I appreciate everyone's comments. For clarification, I don't "hate" the manual, but it's disappointing. Is it a '$30k depreciation hit' disappointing? Nah. I guess not.
I'll...
Dear Abby, I've had my 23 Mojave for exactly a year. I've decided I really don't like the manual transmission in this Jeep, especially paired with the 3.6l engine. I've had 5 other stick shift vehicles (including 4WD) over my life and had no issues with them, so figured I'd get used to it...
Yeah, this is a bit of a disaster for Toyota and their new design. Makes anyone wishing to purchase it think twice, and then question how Toyota could have possibly tested this design competently off-road. Then that question leads to other questions, and so on.
That said, they'll fix it and...
So here's what's going to happen:
1) Fewer and fewer people will get insurance, regardless of the law. This will include me if it goes up again like this.
2) Because fewer and fewer people will have insurance, hit-and-run crashes will skyrocket. No one will stick around, and why should they...
Well shit... Geico's auto insurance renewal I received today went from $550/6 months, which is already absurd, to $750. +$200 for 6 months, for just this Jeep. I'm 50, have excellent credit and zero record of tickets/accidents. I get Washington doesn't allow credit score, but I'm literally...
Hey there,
I realize all cars exposed to salt will rust... However, does this amount of undercarriage rust seem normal for a 1-year old Jeep with only 4k miles? To me, it seems excessive for the age/mileage.
Anyone know if the Artec full belly skid needs to come off for them to do this recall?
Also, based on the reprogramming, do you suggest taking the Tazer off and/or will it reset all of my current settings?
