  1. Water fording newbie

Yeah we have a river crossing identical to that. I drive around in it all the time. Technically these are rated 30 inches but my personal rule is below the door sill only. I don't want to risk having to remove my carpet and hose it off. Lol.
  2. 315/70/17 vs. 35/12.50/17 KO'2s

I've run both sizes and they are identical. In fact I don't even know why they make both. Keep an eye on tread depth and overall construction, sometimes the flotation and metric sizes differ there, but overall they're the same size. For the K02 specifically, they list it at 1/10" taller for...
  3. Maguson supercharger installed on the Mojave, and why TVS is better than Centri

Right, but as I recall that was regarding a forced induction version of the P-star that was planned originally but then scrapped later. The N/A 3.6 that we got in the States was built much lighter duty, with different rods, heads, and other parts. It's even an open deck design. It isn't...
  4. Maguson supercharger installed on the Mojave, and why TVS is better than Centri

It's all about shock loading. Think about a tow strap. It can hold maybe 30,000 lbs. of force before snapping. But if you yank it really hard and fast and snap it, you can break it at maybe only 15,000 lbs. The power coming on more gradually saves the engine if you really crank up the...
  5. Maguson supercharger installed on the Mojave, and why TVS is better than Centri

The instant "hit" he talks about may be fun, but it's hell on internals. And that's the specific reason why almost everybody I know goes centrifugal. The very minor lag reduces shock loading on the main bearings and results in being able to enjoy your investment for many years. To each their...
  6. 2022 Rumors?

75 pages and counting... This is the most long lasting thread I've posted since the reminder to NOT put 6 quarts of oil in your 2018+ Pentastar engine. That one has been going for like 3 years now. :)
  7. Opinions and thoughts on limited budget upgrade priority.

Lol 20 minutes after I posted this I saw a guy up the road from me hopelessly stuck 125 feet from the driveway in very sloppy and soft soil. The APEX 12000 saved the day and he slipped me $100 even though I didn't ask for it. He probably figured a tow truck would be $300! My good deed for the...
  8. Diesel cooling options and ideas

I don't know that the foam and engine cover are trapping enough heat to cause problems. But throwing them away certainly can't hurt!!!
  9. Opinions and thoughts on limited budget upgrade priority.

I like the Badland APEX 12000 winch. $529 with synthetic rope and battery isolator and all wiring included? Plus a wireless remote? Heck yes. Great value. I then picked up the Rampage Rock Rage bumper. 12k winch rated, and a clean, simple design. Around $300 bucks. So altogether I'm at...
  10. Gupton Motors up to 8% below invoice

The fact that Daniel gets dozens of emails daily, somehow finds time to respond to 98% of them, and keeps a smiling and happy demeanor through every one is astonishing. The guy deserves more credit than he gets. There's no way I could deal with that many people asking Jeep questions every...
  11. Jeep YJ (1993). 4 Cyl/5-Spd. Has anyone seen this? Does this sound like a Transfer Case Chain? Does the entire Transfer Case need to be rebuilt?

Gosh that brings back memories. That engine was 123 horsepower and so with 33" tires on my old YJ it wouldn't even pull hills in 4th gear. Miserable. Anyway, those chains are very bad about stretching and then you get the noise like that. If it goes too long then obviously it can start...
  12. 2022 Rumors?

People have been brainwashed into thinking that if they don't burn fuel, they're saving money. What they fail to realize is that the overnight charge cost them $0.10 to $0.20 cents per kWh, depending on where they live, and the 4xe gets 1 mile per kWh, so effectively it costs on average $0.15...
  13. 1

Random side note, but in KY they've apparently gone to "no fault" insurance at some point in the not so distant future. I hate it. To me it's dead wrong to force a person to file a claim with their insurance, knowing that it's going to result in a rate increase, over something they have...
  14. 2022 Rumors?

I'm cheering for a 392 Hemi JT, because I still don't think a 4xe JT is practical from a payload/towing standpoint. It would be a useless pickup truck, unless they have a magic wand and somehow get 7,000+ lbs. GVWR doable in a midsize chassis.
  15. Mojave vs Rubicon? Help me decide!

For me, no diesel was a deal breaker. But if you KNOW you're getting the gas engine, Mojave 100%. Taller ride height, less offset wheels, reinforced frame, locker usable at higher speed, better suspension, etc. It's a no brainer.
  16. Diesel cooling options and ideas

I just had an epiphany. Do you guys who are seeing the overheating issues still have all of the foam pieces around your engine and the engine cover installed? The 1st thing I do when I get home with an Ecodiesel is remove all of the foam and the engine cover. Those stupid pieces just hold heat.
  17. Bronco Defection

A couple new colors is about it for 2022. 2023 is the refresh/update year. So far we've seen Jeep reps asking for opinions on the console area, so it's almost a certainty that a new layout for the console is coming for '23. We'll probably see a new powertrain for '23 also. If I wanted one...
  18. Diesel cooling options and ideas

Yeah, I remember that. Looks like nobody wanted to play ball.
  19. Diesel cooling options and ideas

I've seen a few guys mention increasing oil capacity. Just fyi, that doesn't do anything at all to keep an engine or trans. cool. Greater fluid capacity means it takes slightly longer to heat up the oil, slightly longer to cool it down, but while in operation the temperature will be exactly...
  20. Diesel cooling options and ideas

I would still like to see a list of build dates between the trucks that overheat and the trucks that don't. I think that could give us some very interesting clues. Makes no sense that some of us tow BIG trailers on 90-100 degree days with zero issues, and others claim they overheat without a...
