I understand your position, and I think you and I have gone around on this topic before. Fact is 75 years of professional racers, jeep builders, and drag car racers don't lie. "Economic" cars come with high ratio gears for the mileage at the expensive of performance. Deeper gears have been put...
I didn't say peak torque, you don't need to run peak on the interstate. I said most efficient. The torque curve rises and flattens out around 2500 RPM, so while you might make a bit more at 4400, it's relatively the same as it is at 2500, so the gains are minimal past 2500 compared to the extra...
Its the same dilemma as every other lifted Jeep on the road. Not being mean or anything, but you aren't special. 99% of the time no one ever regrets a regear, it's the cheapest bang for your buck to put some umph back in the seat while driving, it helps move the heaver weight of larger...
There's nothing you can do to change the tow rating of the truck, either up or down. It's tied to the VIN. Can't go over the GCWR regardless of how much the truck or trailer weighs individually.
7700lb trailer tow rating is based on a 4750 Jeep weight (12,450 total gcwr), but if you've got 4...
I use to haul my harley in the bed with no wheel chock at all, front tire right up against the bed. The wheel chock isn't really necessary, it just makes it nicer to get on/off the bike and have something provide a little extra stability,.
You could probably bolt it to a 2x12 cut the width of...
I bought a F150 one time, brand new with 7 miles but I was the second owner. Ford Advertising owned it initially and it actually had a screenshot from the commercial it was used in. Pretty cool, kind of wish I'd kept the stuff around but I was young and dumb at the time. Picture got destroyed...
I live in GA too, east of Atlanta. Do you intend to wheel any? I know you say you haven't seen a mountain or rock recently, but driving through the N. GA mountains is one of the biggest benefits of owning a capable Jeep. Not about abusing or bashing to Jeep, but the forest and service roads...
Dang old thread :)
I heard this the other day- How many hundreds of thousands of brand-new vehicles leave the dealership every year with <10 miles on those Diffs that don't come back until their first 3-5K oil change? And since most brands don't even start recommending diff service until 50K+...
Depends on what your doing with it. I've seen people on 39's and stock gears, so "doable" is subjective. If you are planning on pulling a trailer, if you live in a mountainous area, or if you just really like to drive a vehicle that doesn't feel like a 80's 1-ton diesel, you'll still hate the...
He is running 35's. For 37's go with the 5.13s
I'm running small 37's (BFGs) and 5.13's and it's a great combo. Pull my boat on the weekends and run to work in Atlanta during the week. No problems towing or running interstate.
You'll hardly notice the step between 4.10's and 4.56s. I'm a big fan of overgearing Jeeps, I'd almost always go up a ratio.
4.88's is my vote. Especially with you stating your Interstate is so low. I'm running 5.13's on mine on 37's and love it. I'm on the interstate regularly, and can still...
NOt sure if you've seen this thread, but it's about retofitting the proximity to standard doors. Should help quite a bit in your situation too: https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/proximity-door-locks-retrofit-on-wrangler-gladiator-someone-figured-it-out-diy-writeup.29199/
9 times out of 10 it's the bent door pins, but with the opening and closing of the door it can cause the door harness wires themselves to break over time. You can check continuity on either side of the door harness and see if you have a break somewhere
With all the controls not working, i'd...
