It is pretty simple- turn the stem towards the driver's side and it will pop out. the ball has a detent shaped into the side that restricts the rotation of the assembly using a corresponding bump on the plastic surround. the detent is not really necessary unless i suppose it prevent spinning...

I use the NOCO Genius 5 with the trailer connector. Still on the OEM factory installed battery from 2019. my one caution is what ever method and charger you use, ensure you have it set up so you do not drive off with it still connected. If it is connected under the hood, leave the hood up.

Probably cannot tell from the pictures, but the bracket does sit awkward due to the short bolt tab. I tHought that was odd when I installed them and wondered if that tab being too short was the issue.

The front and rear have a very similar drop when installed. and rear feels as solid as the front. I would think a spacer/shim to prevent the trim from compressing would eliminate the gap. Maybe a longer screw might be needed with the shim.

I noticed the same when I experimented with the handles in the rear of my ‘20 JT… looks like it needs a spacer to eliminate the gap.

Was the aux battery removed when the Genesis system was installed? Pictures of your set-up would be helpful.
