How did you guys get the spring back in/seat all the way? I am doing this while the mirror assy is still in the Jeep. Do you have to take the whole assy off the Jeep?

It is pretty simple- turn the stem towards the driver's side and it will pop out.
the ball has a detent shaped into the side that restricts the rotation of the assembly using a corresponding bump on the plastic surround.

the detent is not really necessary unless i suppose it prevent spinning the mirror multiple times and damaging the internal wiring.

Use a dremel tool to grind the plastic stub out of the mirror so the mirror could flip 180 on the ball…

To reassemble the mirror I placed it face down on a towel. I then pushed the spring into the receiver first and seated it around the socket. Once the spring was seated I was able to push down on the ball and seat it firmly in the socket. It took some force but popped in with pressure. I tested the movement to ensure it was still smooth but tight. Seemed fine in adjustment without being either too loose or too stiff.

I then took the mirror to the car and inserted the aluminum end into the windshield frame receiver at 90*. Took some fiddling to get the ears of the mount aligned correctly but then rotated back to face the driver and it set firmly behind the wings. Popped the electrical connectors back together and closed the plastic cover on the back of the mount.

Anyone know what the trick was in this post?

https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/...irror-mod-better-than-just-flipping-it.42552/

Video won't load anymore and unclear what mod involved other than it involved a mirror with the auto-highbeam sensor and did not involve flipping the mirror.

If I had to guess, I'm wondering if the mod involved tilting the mounting bracket which is what I'm thinking of doing. Tilting how that bracket mounts either with shims/washers on the screw holes closer to the windshield or by grinding down the front of that bracket closer to the driver would allow that "L" shaped arm to tilt towards the driver, but also up some toward the roof.

Anyone out there with the ACC box try this or something like this?

First mod and something all JK/JL/TJ/JT owners should do.

Flip that rear view mirror upside down. Just try it....

And it cost 0.00 bucks.

:)
What I do is, when the jeep is upside down, I flip the rear view mirror over so everything looks right side up, that way I can figure out how to get out of the situation easier. :giggle:
