  1. Why not buy a Centerforce dual friction clutch?

Mine shipped yesterday (8/31), been on order since 8/24/21. Estimated delivery: Tomorrow!
  2. How do you guys carry your kayaks?

Hmmmm. I like my bed topper (Bestop Supertop)... I like your front hoop. Make a rear hoop, same rack height, that'll let the tailgate open, and clear the topper, and I'm in for the package! With the variety of aftermarket bumpers, I'd guess you'd have to go in to the frame where the little...
  3. How do you guys carry your kayaks?

I'll bite. Looks like it should, but does this clear the soft top? Wanna send me one to test and make sure?
  4. What to plan for... keeping back hard top off extended period.

I run JCR aluminum half doors when I'm topless, in the back only, for the kids in their car seats and their junk in the floor.... I have the fronts too, but never use them. Color matching was a DIY fail, I'd go to Maaco next time...
  5. How do you guys carry your kayaks?

I finally got my head in the game and figured something out. Only works topless, but oh well.
  6. Anyone regretting your saddle/brown leather seats?

Watch out for new, dark washed denim jeans (and sweat). the blue dye will stain lighter leather.....
  7. Premature wear on side of drivers seat

Gotta stand up, swing all the way in, and then sit down. Same on the way out... My FJ with 230,000miles has bare foam all the way along that edge, even after trying to be more careful
  8. Gladiator Exo Pak Bed Cap?

"Sign up to view the site" ....... Mnaw.
  9. Why not buy a Centerforce dual friction clutch?

We're gettin a bit off topic here, but since all the CF clutches are backordered and there ain't shit else to talk about.... The synchros can only handle so much. Even with the clutch depressed, you'll notice you not only CAN'T jam it into 1st at 50mph, but the dash will advise you that you're...
  10. Why not buy a Centerforce dual friction clutch?

Yeah I saw your post, that'd suck. I Ordered the KCFT157077 in august of last year ('21), and am still waiting. turns out Quadratec/Centerforce are helping me be patient with my clutch's life span.
  11. 500 Miles at 50 MPH

If anyone's had their axles re-geared, this all sounds familiar..... The higher load on the Ring & Pinion will slightly change the contact patch of the teeth, and need a new "break-in" period. My immediate curiosity while breaking in my new gears was "what the heck they do on the FACTORY...
  12. Ugly or no?

I had been staying very self conscience about the appearance of each of the many configurations possible, but ultimately, function wins. This setup was for a camping trip with a chance of rain, 1hr drive on the interstate, and my 4yo kid in the back seat.... got MOST of the open air experience...
  13. New Engine Needed at 42k miles!?!?!

Ha, not quite. I work in an ammo factory (engineer) and know what certain machines’ run rates are, and can hear them in my sleep sometimes…. Production’s favorite party trick is to crank up a machine’s run rate beyond its “sweet spot” and create the illusion of better numbers…. Always comes at...
  14. New Engine Needed at 42k miles!?!?!

Um, I think so? The original sound was heavy at idle, ~250 beats a minute (so every other rotation)... now I have a tick at a ~500bpm cadence, much quieter, and it goes away once oil pressure is built.
  15. Doors off for the first time yesterday. Some questions.

My only worry with the hinge pins is the bearing surface. Before (TJ, I assume JK), the pin was full bore diameter all the way through, this one (JL, TJ) has a sex bolt (Chicago screws?) and the bearing surface is only half of the length of the bushing.... Probably not a big deal, I run mine...
  16. Doors off for the first time yesterday. Some questions.

Sorry for the poor quality here, but it's all I had; one thing I (well, my wife..) DIDN"T like on the Kikbax was the foot peg is a black steel rod right at eye level with my kid and my thigh.... So I drilled an appropriately sized hole in golf balls, painted them Billet Metalic Silver, and...
  17. Doors off for the first time yesterday. Some questions.

These probably cost more than you WANT to pay, but I absolutely love mine. It was the 3rd or 4th attempt at a decent solution, and they're the first ones that don't flex in the wind or vibrate really bad. They go on instantly, and also have the foot peg as a bonus. Jeep JL/JLU/JT Foot Pegs...
  18. Each Gladiator Trim's Use Case

Sport: Get in a jeep ASAP and build it how you want it, later.
  19. Freeway Travel with Doors off

Normally, I don’t ever drive with my glacier glasses (don’t ask, or do, but I have a collection for some reason). But, with the wide angle [fisheye] mirrors, I don’t have to worry about the blinders so much….. Anyhow, these are great jeeping glasses. They have wrap-around cable earpieces, and...
  20. Freeway Travel with Doors off

This ain't always pleasurable.... when you get about 4-5" of hang time, the cross winds whip it and it stings... and eventually is long enough to whip you in the eyeball.... And no, I'm not going to braid it.
