Tried to order rock sliders to ship to Alaska.... big mistake. Shipping alone was almost half of what it cost online. After a friend recommended trying a local shop to fabricate, i had these fabricated. They are now off for finishing and decided using bedliner for painting. Here they are for...
I'm getting some fabricated and installed next week at a local metal shop. I wanted to get the Rusty's, but shipping charges to Alaska just killed it for me. I will post pics when done.
Still working on figuring this out. This is my last attempt of getting a star shot. Sounds like you do multiple exposures then merging them? Can't get the milky way to pop like in yours.... I'm pretty far north too, so not sure if it's just my limited view of the milky way.
Last camping trip of the season. Trail River Campground, Moose Pass AK, right along Kenai Lake:
Wishbone Lake - wheeling destination a couple weekends before:

This past saturday and last camping trip of season, loaded up my inflatable kayak to get it to the lake from our campsite.... too far to carry it or cart it.
Getting a wdh is a big improvement. It got rid of the squat and ride quality was definitely less bouncy and more stable. Due to my limited options up here in AK, I went with the Curt rated for 6000#'s which is just right for my rpod. It does have the option to add anti-sway later down the road.
Love my gladiator. Going on a full year and about 17500 miles. I've gone on the beach, tow my trailer, camping, off-roading, getting it dirty, trail rash. Absolutely having a blast in this thing, making lots of new friends and no regrets...well maybe one, I want to keep spending money for upgrades.
Curt Echo wireless bluetooth controller... I had problems with a Tekonsha and Curt wired controllers that caused issues with the Gladiator electronics (stop/start and traction control would error out, brakes in trailer wouldn't work unless i triggered with the manual override first)
618 mi or so, 100 mi of dirt/gravel. All in all, was about 14 hour drive - Anchorage to Kennicott mine and back again.
595 mi or so, 108 mi of dirt/gravel. All in all, was also about a 14 hour drive; Anchorage to Denali Hwy to Paxson and back to Anchorage.
Both were comfortable but...
I don't know if you got this answered yet... Not on my Jeep, but another vehicle: After an accident and after the body shop sent their quote to the insurance and was approved, I was able to work with the body shop to order and install a different grill only paying the difference in cost from the...
Looks like a great trip! I need to do an arctic circle trip one of these days... maybe in the winter where less traffic and less gravel to throw around! It definitely is on my bucket list before i ever leave Alaska.
I'll be posting my pics of the past week. Sounds like you had an epic trip. I did drive on the beach at anchor point. Too bad we missed each other in Homer.
Installed some rubicon take-off shocks and rear coils to my overland. I had the RC 2.5" lift on the fronts so I left those coils in. Installer said the fox shocks maybe a tad short but it should be good, but offroading could be a problem. He measured and rear was raised a full inch.
Almost a...
Day Trip down to Chitina and McCarthy Road. It was a last minute decision, so no planning and realized by the time i got down there, it was another 50 + miles on dirt/gravel to Kennicot Mine. Sadly, didn't have time but turn around and head back when i made it. Next time, I'll be bringing the...
