Sounds like a great trip so far... :) I did make a day trip down to Kennicot on Friday and back again in a day... I didn't realize it was another 50+ miles from Chitna to the mine. No way i wasn't going to finish it! I didn't have time to visit at the end though. Next time, I'll be bringing the...
Well i have a new monstrosity hanging off the back of my truck. I decided to go with the wdh from Curt vs the airlift airbags in the ring coils. I luckily was able to find one that was in-stock at the local 6 Robblees that was in the right weight range for my rpod.
I'll be heading down to Homer that week. Got the entire week off, so I'll be making some stops in-between. I have reservations at the Homer Spit Campground from 15-17th. If only Chitina wasn't the opposite side of the horseshoe, I'd say I would meet you there.
Maybe I'll try heading that way...
Nice... hope you are enjoying the sites so far. Did you take the Denali Hwy yet through to Paxson? Be sure to make a trip down to Valdez or Seward. There's also the road to Kennicot Mine; I haven't done that completely yet, but it's on my list. I know there's a bunch more places to go see and...
They need to find a trail in Alaska. I'd definitely make an attempt and acquiring all the needed modifications, especially before i retire and probably end up moving out of the state.
Definitely noticed the difference once installed, I did a few miles before dropping it back off in storage. It is a few extra steps to get things hooked up. I have a sloped driveway too, so I imagine I'm going to have to pull it to a level spot and hook the bars up and vice versa when i need to...
Had a Jeep meet-up with a local Jeep facebook group, group ride/meet and greet at the local off-road store in Wasilla and then hit the Craigie Creek Trail-Hatchers Pass, AK.
I decided to go the wdh route instead of the bags. My friend mentioned that when not in use you had to keep 5#'s in the bags at all times. Is this hard to maintain if you do not have on-board air?
Craigie Creek Trail Hatchers Pass AK. Just wide enough for a Jeep, some parts rocky, some water/creek/puddle crossings, and generally fun. I wish i had 35s in some spots though. I did hit the bottom in several spots, a lot of grimacing going on. 14 vehicles, mostly Jeeps headed out of Anchorage...
No pics yet, but not actually worth looking at, I had a CURT WDH rated for tongue wgt of 600-800 lbs 6000lbs max tow capacity installed yesterday. Makes a big difference so far on the ride quality and level of towing a 3200 lbs rpod travel trailer.
Love my Sunrider top, especially up in Alaska where the weather can change in a heartbeat. This trip around the Denali Hwy just a few weeks ago, I had rain, sun, clouds, and just above freezing into a frozen wasteland.
I 2nd/3rd/4th agree on the Sunrider top. On this trip, I had 4 different weather conditions on approx 200 mile round trip: cloudy, sunny, rainy, and snow covered just above freezing. I immediately knew the panels weren't going to work out in Alaska.
I debated getting the sunrider for a few months, and when I finally got the extra cash for it, i got it. Had it for a couple months now and super happy about the purchase. Alaska weather changes to often and unpredictably, so being able to close up in a few seconds is a life saver. Also, the...
Hmmm haven't gone to the dealer to do this yet, but for some reason today after making a trip to the post office, my android autoplay no longer works via USB cable. I can't seem to connect to my phone over bluetooth either. I'ts stuck at initiating bluetooth...
There's a hazard option switch that prevents the hazards from tripping the brakes on the trailer as it flashes. It does work, but i was already at a complete stop when i had it activated as i waited for a moose to cross the road. I did start accelerating with the hazards on with no issues, so do...
