Two weekend camping trips to kick off the summer.
Weekend trip to Talkeetna. Stayed at Talkeetna RV Park and Boat Launch.

Picked up the rpod this week to get it ready for summer camping season. Made a few changes since last summer. Ended up going with a wireless brake controller, Curt Echo. Flipped the 2" drop trailer hitch to level out the trailer, and have some airlift bags on order to get rid of the squat.
Denali Highway about 100 mi dirt road between Cantwell and the other end, i forget the name of the town. There's a campground 20 miles in from the Cantwell side called Brushkana. Also, there is another gravel road from Chitina to Kennecot Mine down by the Copper River/Valdez area. Go to Jeep'n...
Picked up and installed my Bestop Sunrider this afternoon. Pretty easy install. I hope this is the last of the upgrades for now. It's still a tad chillty, but how could i not go for a little drive with the top flipped back. I'm ready for summer.
Ordered me the Bestop Sunrider top for the Jeep from Trailtoyz in Wasilla; should arrive in two weeks. While I was there. I picked up a Jeep'n Alaska sticker and put it on when I got home. Amazon prime and shipping from anyone else was a no go. Added benefit, I get to support a local business.
I haven't really thought about it or was a concern. I'll only have a shovel on there when I camp or go off-road. Other than maybe a cable lock would work, i can't see any other way.
A couple of vids of my trip to Knik Glacier with some folks from the Jeep'n Alaska Facebook group... Pretty amazing trip, but it was an all day event, with some wrong ways and people getting stuck.
Another thing to keep in mind, especially if you park in the garage attached to your home - Do not forget to shut off the car. I ended up almost killing myself in a vehicle with a keyfob and push-button start. On my rush to get in the house, I left the car running. Luckily as I was getting ready...
Curious about the Jeep Mtn bike that was seen in the Bill Murray Jeep Commercial. I got this email today for pre-ordering the bike... outch almost $6k. It would look good sitting on my bike rack though...
ABC RV rents out RPODs, so if you are still undecided on models definitely do that first. :). There is a little squat in the rear. I'm definitely be picking up a weight distribution hitch this spring, see how it behaves, and maybe get some airbags... more money to spend
I wanted to get a little tear drop when I was shopping around a few years ago. Nothing in the way of dealers up here selling them. ABC RV in Anchorage had a couple mini travel trailers but not tear-drop shaped for like $12-13k. hehehe didn't help that they had a bunch of Rpods though which had...
I'm not sure if this is going to work, but this is a timelapse of me driving Hatchers Pass towing a Rpod. I've also traveled Denali Hwy and part way to Kennicot mine with the pod. So... your little trailer should be fine as long as you take your time.

For bear prevention I carry bear spray, but I also have a 10mm Glock. I got the glock because it was easier to carry when I used to mtn bike a lot, and it was the "bear" minimum :). People say a shot gun with slugs is best. Make sure you make lots of noise if you're hiking or biking in the...
