Most of us office folks had the day off, so I stayed home mostly. I did head out for food, hung out at Guitar Center, and just drove around in the Jeep. The line-men were a busy bunch though. Lots of snow & wind related outages further out towards the valley.
For the new Alaskan Jeep owners, be sure to check out the Jeep'n Alaska Facebook group. Lots of good info and members announcing group activities.

Better safe than sorry... I hate fix-it tickets. Also having this kinda adds a little protection from the elements, so i don't have a bunch of gunk collecting up in the winch. Spring break-up and wet months can get pretty messy around here. An added benefit-I have vet plates, and people tend to...
Not sure if a front license plate is required now even after reading that it wasn't or wasn't expressly illegal on the dmv website. I read that someone got a ticket for it recently as well as no mudflaps on one of the local jeep facebook groups. I decided to get one of those hinged license plate...
Hey there. I actually went with a little group from Jeep'n Alaska to Knik Glacier this past weekend. Not sure if I've seen you around yet. My commute takes me from Anchorage to Eagle River.
Oh to add: I work out of the MEA building in ER. You will usually see my Glady parked in front, so if...
Ok found it. Interesting read on the making of the commercial and how Jeep got Bill Murray to do it:

There is a difference. The bars run lengthwise vs the rails which go cross-wise. I'm not sure if I would have been able to mount the basket and bike mount with this configuration.
I'm building my kit up as well. so far, just a smittybilt 10k winch with synth rope, tow strap, a couple shackles, and snatch block. I was looking at those winch anchors; wow, they are pricey, but what else is new ;). I'll be building this up as budget and situations allow.
If you can, watch Matt's offroad Recovery on YouTube. He videos all his recoveries with his Jeep, and it seems he's always using a recovery rope. It's addiciting to watch... You'll learn a lot just by watching him.

Today, I made some room in the garage to fit the Jeep as I take off to California for the holidays in a couple weeks. Added a winch cover and put on my vent decals I got from PixelDecals.com
Yeah Thanks. I'm glad I was able to find a system to let me use my old hardware. What's nice about this set up in my gladiator vs my old g.cherokee is I don't need a ladder anymore to be able to load and unload my bikes and other camping gear.
