Haha... right. 3 Max Tow fenders and 1 Rubicon. I cut them some slack because the Max Tow/Rubicon axles are basically the same... but still.
Nice thing is I wanted to do Rubicon fenders anyway... so this way dealer threw in other stuff for free to offset the cost of the fender. It all worked...
No lift here... and prolly never will.
I had ONE Rubicon fender installed from the factory, so I bought a full set and swapped in the other three. With those high rise fenders, I can run 35s and couldn't be happier (except I maybe should have gone with a C or D load tire... but that's another...
My Ryobi cordless ratchet with torx socket makes quick work of those 4 bolts. But, like you, I don't typically go too far totally topless. MN weather can be hit or miss as well.
Right... top is off, it'll be windy regardless. But it's a significant difference between having that man bun up there and just taking it all off. I've resorted to taking the four bolts out and pulling the whole soft top assembly off most the time. But now i'm getting very close to the time...
Hmmm... not so sure about that bundle up in front? Looks like there would be a lot of wind noise and bug splatter. I would certainly have to see one in person. Looks very promising though!
Here's to add another dot to your data charts... A soft top that folds all the way back down to the bed!
Here are my reasons in no particular order:
- "man buns" are ugly
- The height when opened is prohibitive
Jeep won't fit through standard 7' garage door when opened (If Jeep is running 35"...
Yes, i know, I'm referring to the full soft top. I just can't seem to keep the fabric under control when i fold it open. I used the velcro straps to keep it down, but the fabric gets all wild in the wind. I'm worried i'm going to tear the seam where the fabric attaches to the support bars.
I see your full soft top is nicely bunched up and compact in the "man bun" mode... any special tricks to this?
I picked up a used/new in box twill top recently and can't seem to get it to stay "organized" back there. The edges are flopping around in the wind, hanging off the back of the top...
Did you do anything about this? I just bought a new in box premium soft top (second hand) from a guy with a 2020 JT. I get some of the flapping and buffeting as well. Curious what my options are.
Coming from two previous JKU's, the JT is noticeably longer and slightly more difficult to park in tight spaces. It's the same length as the old 1995 Chevy K1500 Extended Cab pickup I used to have - although the more narrow body helps.
I'd parallel my JKU's no problem... haven't had to with my...
I have a Sport S with Max Tow (Macks Toe, MxT, whatever)... but Jeep goofed and put a Rubicon fender on the passenger rear...
Am I allowed to run a Rubicon sticker on the side with the Rubicon fender? Close enough right?
Looks great to me! I say rock those 33s and go hit some trails along side those people with 37s. Then, at the end of the run, open your wallet to show them all the greenbacks you still have because you didn't pay for 37's....and gears....and programming.....and gas....and brake pads.....and......
