The slip yoke (not "yolk"; that's the yellow stuff inside an egg) could indeed develop lash if the splines are worn, which could be caused by lack of grease. But once it's worn, regreasing it won't fix the wear, though it may quiet the noise somewhat.
My wife and I agreed that we wouldn't be babysitters for our grandkids... but we enjoy having them visit occasionally (with or without their parents), for a few hours or a few days.
If you're driving on pavement all the time, even if snowy or icy, you don't need a locker.
The last Jeep I had with posi rear was terrifying on slick roads, because both wheels would lose traction at the same time. With an open diff, at least one wheel would still be gripping.
When I bought...
I certainly can't match the OP's story, but... I didn't grow up around Jeeps. My first Jeep experience was when I was around 8th grade, my sister's boyfriend had a 1949 Willys when they were in college, took me for a ride. Tried to do the "overland route" but couldn't get over a snowbank so we...
Think of a manual transmission... 1st is top left, pull back to upshift to 2nd. 3rd is diagonally up, then pull to upshift into 4th.
You can also thing of it as pushing forward thus pushing yourself back to slow down, pull back to pull yourself forward (faster).
I had the Grabbers on my XJ and liked them. I now have Falkens (Mojave takeoffs) on my Gladiator and when they wear out I'll likely replace them with the same thing.
Got in my truck today to go to the hardware store and water poured out from under the soft top on the passenger side. Went to look at where it might be coming from and found this:
Well, that explains why my wife said there was water dripping on her the other day, though it was just a bit...
I had the same problem. Took four visits to the dealer (under warranty) but they finally fixed it, by replacing the antenna which is apparently behind the dash trim.
No, it doesn't work all the time and it's not precise, but it's a room to use in the absence of other information... which is why I said "adjust based on how it feels when driving." It'll usually get you in the ballpark.
We get our fires in the East, too. Large areas of the NJ Pine Barrens regularly burn, and a few years ago we nearly lost our cabin in upstate NY to a forest fire that burned to within a couple hundred yards, almost certainly started by a careless camper up on the mountain above us.
Constructive criticism is not insults. You posted a thread about your great new camper build and then got upset when others found it not so great. But having a hissy fit and wiping the thread as you have done is considered immature and extremely rude behavior in the online community, as it...
OEM size tires... Use the pressure on the door sticker and adjust basis on how it feels when driving. Larger tires... Do the chalk test and adjust based on driving.
With Mojave takeoffs I shoot for 33 and don't freak if it goes higher on a sunny day or the highway.
Yes, the slots in the bed are sized for a pair of 2x4s (actual size 1½ x 3½"), which is what I used. Also if you chamfer the bottom corners to clear the radius in the bottom of the slots the board can then drop all the way down to rest on the bottom of the bed instead of digging into the...
