I had the bubbling paint issue on the front edge of my hood. Just one very small spot, hardly noticible. I found that different dealerships will give you different amounts of grief about it. Some just want to repaint the existing hood. Others will replace it. One dealership here didn't even...
Don't get me wrong. Superwinch has been a very well respected brand for years, and rightly so. They've been around since 1970. I've had one on my 4 wheeler for over 20 years and have never had a problem with it! And I wouldn't hesitate to use one today. They have a long history of quality...
I guess what I'm getting at is, what if something in the geartrain breaks, or you lose a solenoid in your control box? (That has happened to me.) What kind of warrenty comes with the winch? Who would you go to for parts? At least with Warn, I have a reliable source for parts. I promise you...
I have a question on the aesthetics of doing this mod. I originally just cut away enough of the top portion of the outer plastic to expose the control box and the clutch lever. I now think that I may 'even up' that cutout toward the passenger side to make it more symmetrical. What do you guys...
I got my EVO 10S on August 7. Mine had a paper in there that gave me the info about the rebate. They offered $100 for a wireless remote or toward any other Warn item in their store. The remote that came with my winch is corded only. I put in for the rebate. Haven't heard anything back yet.
I have 1.5 TeraFlex levellers and 285/75R17's (34") that sit at 33.2" on the truck. They are E rated tires. I am running 28 PSI cold. 305/70R17's will give you the same tire height and a little extra poke.
I went with 2 howzers and the Harbor Freight fairlead mount like Chris, but my howzers are black. I've got enough slot in the fairlead mount to adjust out to the outer skin.
I'm underway! Cut up my friend's internal metal and plastic pieces. I've got them sitting directly on the LoD winch plate and aligned with the 4 holes on the plate. Looks like outer skin may be able to totally protect the synthetic winch line. I believe I will be able to leave enough of the...
I like it! The Willys, to me, is a somewhat understated edition that harkens us back to the "golden" Jeep era. I remember the Kaizers and CJ's of old whose dash panels were the same color as the exterior. (Albeit, much more primitive than today's models.) That dash now matches the exterior...
I went with a Warn VR EVO 10S, a 10,000 pounder. Hopefully mine is a little smaller. I do want to use a winch cover if possible, but don't want to have to cut too much of the outer plastic to make that happen. We'll see. Should be fun! :jk:
Chris, I'm stacking fairleads, as well. Great idea.
