Well, I've ordered all of the pieces and parts. And I have a friend's stock bumper to play with. It looks to me like the center section of the steel channel and the interior plastic piece will have to be removed. Maybe the lower flange of the interior plastic piece could remain so that I...
Just bought an EVO 10s. Can't wait to get it here and installed. I think I'm going to try the method that Mav4x4Chris used to carve up my plastic bumper to add a winch plate inside it. Looks like a fun project and, if I screw it up, I can always buy a winch bumper. I think I will buy a...
The tires do have some crown compared to, say, a K02. I read somewhere that, after a tire warms up, the increase in pressure will only be around 2 psi if the tire is properly inflated. I don't know if that is true or not, but I'm going to keep mine at 30psi cold. That pressure took a lot of...
Is the Patagonia X/T a crowned tire like the MT? I ask because, after lowering the tire pressure to 29 psi, my tires are still not contacting pavement at the edges. These are 10 ply rated tires. Advice greatly appreciated.
285/75R17 Milestar Patagonia X/T's on stock Willys wheels. 1.5"TeraFlex levelling kit in front. I have not experienced any rubbing. I have tested it flexed, but don't use swaybar disconnects. For my purposes, it works great.
Willys owner here...and love it. With that said, I'm CHEAP! The 3.73 gears are probably better on gas mileage but 34" tires are about the max unless you want to regear and lift it. The TracLoc differential is pretty capable but I will probably swap mine out for an Eaton TrueTrac when the...
Both my friend's and my Willys had Firestone Destination M/T's on them. It is possible that the Willys JT's with the BFG M/T's are set correctly. I don't know the actual diameter of the BFG's, but they are 255/75r17 as well. Could be the Firestones run small, and the change in diameter was...
I was getting around 21 mpg with stock 255/75r17 Firestone mudders. I thought, "wow, this is great". I connected my analyzer to it and noticed that the tire size value in the computer for those factory tires was 32.57". I measured the tires and they were 31"! I think a little trickery was...
Nextar7,
If you wheel, your front tires will probably rub if flexed while turning with anything taller than 34" tires on stock wheels. I did a little testing today while clearing trails on our hunting property. I didn't rub, but they were close. Unfortunately, I don't have a pic while in a turn.
I put 285/75R17's (34's) on my Willys. It has a TeraFlex 1.5 leveling kit on the front. I didn't want anything that would possibly rub. I don't know how much taller you could go on a Sport with stock wheels and not rub a little at full turn, when flexed. They haven't killed my mpg's with the...
Looks like mine! I will be adding these 285/75R17's (34's) as soon as I can wear out the Firestones. I think that's about as tall as we can go without rubbing with the 1.5 leveler. A friend of mine put 305/70R17's on his and it looks great.
