Is this for real? How come it isn’t all over the news? Not one news article. But greatly appreciate the news.
Good question if it will also apply to the Gladiator?
I have the Clayton 4.5” complete lift kit on my JK Rubicon for 11 years and love it. It’s been solid and reliable.
Unlimited Rubicon, 37” tires, complete 4.5” lift, factory half doors, manual transmission, etc etc
What happened to half doors?
Starting with this configuration with the SOFT TOP like this with the rear window removed:
Then add HALF DOORS like this that come with upper half for when it rains:
Then add a simple RACK like this:
But better if the rack can also be configured like this:
(No need for a folding mechanism...
I strongly second that. I’ve been looking for same thing. A rack like this that can also be closed off with fabric all around and I guess solid top. Accessories to carry kayaks, bikes, etc.
@Maximus-3 I checked out all the bed racks showcased at SEMA this year and like yours the best, but:
Will it work with a Gladiator with a soft-top (as opposed to a hard-top)?
Will it support a rolling soft tonneau cover of some sort (that keeps things dry inside)?
Will it support provisions on...
I like the rack and how it bulges on the sides. I just wish I could see it better without all the things hanging off of it. I’m not a big fan of all the holes. From my experience over time they could rot inside. But I like it.
Love the overland rack, but:
- Needs to work with soft top (interference?)
- Needs to support tonneau cover
- Able to carry kayaks/etc on top (a basket/safari rack on top would be nice)
I wondered myself if they mean actual diameter or labeled diameter. I don’t know.
I never took my JK on 37s in 11 years to the free public inspection (instead paid for private inspection) to avoid being permanently labeled as a “high rise vehicle” which requires you to go to one of three...
Here is one with a bunch of pictures... Looks like at 38 and up a 20” rim may look better than 17” rim.

Interesting question. I wondered the same for a Gladiator. Here in New Jersey 38" is the maximum you're allowed to have on a vehicle. I currently run 37s on a JK.
This is my favorite configuration/look, but I haven’t seen anybody running this way. If it was only lifted on 37s. Post your pictures like this here.
I want to see:
- Fully functioning half doors (with mirrors and top half)
- Full height bed rack (to carry bikes under and kayaks above) supporting use of tonneau cover so I have a water proof trunk when I need one
I love that there is a tall version (does the 18” go up to the roof line or better slightly above soft top roof line which is higher than hard top roofline) and that it supports some version of a soft tonneau cover and has brackets for bikes. How about brackets for kayaks?
Pictures eventually...
I love the half doors on this thing!!! I would consider an all electric or hybrid (I guess). But the half doors are awesome. What is taking Jeep so long to bring them back? No need to wait for summer. Bring it back now.
