I think the best attribute of the Gladiator will be the availability of having the top down - this is a very unique attribute. If ever offered in an extended cab this will be my next truck.
I ordered my Laramie from the factory to get exactly what I wanted (Ram boxes, air suspension, and the pentastar motor) on my truck after much test driving all models. In addition to the mileage my truck has better payload numbers (by Ram's own payload calculator) then a similarly equipped truck...
You make some interesting points as an owner of 2015 Ram 1500 Laramie for the last (almost) 4 years I honestly don't share the the disdain for the full-size trucks. Yes, larger to be sure but mine is the V6 pentastar - purposely ordered in this configuration - my gas mileage is consistently...
My thought in saying 2 or 3 years is remember FCA and the Ram Rebel - by the second year the Rebel added the quad cab and longer bed configuration instead of just a crew cab and shorter bed - this same scenario could play out with the Gladiator.
Not being "tough" - seen that attempted before as you say on the internet - not a fan. Just trying to maintain a certain level of decorum in this forum.
That said, back to the subject matter - the Gladiator as a Jeep pickup is naturally appealing to some buyers and not others - I am resistant...
Nope not wrong - I know they don't make two Silverados anymore...I was referring to the 2018 model year. Your wrong in that Chevy is continuing the extended cab (or double cab). For 2019 extended cabs (or double cabs) will continue and are projected at 40% of sales - a vital component to the...
I just don't see the logic that suggests developing a whole new truck - a new Dakota - meaning cab, chassis, drive train, parts and parts inventory - is less expensive and more profitable than adding an extended cab configuration to what is now an existing truck line in the form of the...
I agree. I own two FCA products - a 2015 Ram Laramie quad cab - factory ordered and 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Rubicon 2.0 turbo 2 door - factory ordered. I will NOT buy an extended cab Dakota as I would rather just keep my Laramie or get another Ram. But if an extended cab Gladiator came on to the...
I just read an article in "Automotive News" regarding Silverado pickup sales at GM that said for 2019 they expect 60% of sales to be in crew cabs a far cry from 90-95%. GM is making money on the extended cabs and two doors which constitute the remaining 40%. To limit itself to crew cab - Jeep is...
Noteworthy that nearly 65% of respondents to the poll which is the subject of this thread, support alternative cab configurations rather than just having a crew cab...
I think the key is that the FCA/Jeep invested in a dedicated assembly line and chassis for the Gladiator. With these in place there can now be many variations built upon that chassis - including may be even the Dakota. I think its a 99% probability that FCA builds an extended cab mid-size truck...
Great comment!!!
Your comment exposes this whole "lifestyle" thing as a marketing department's thin justification for only building one cab configuration when every other manufacturer in the class is building multiple cab configurations.
No problem about the two door thread thing...I comment in other threads too - engine threads (as I have a 2015 pentastar-equipped Ram - ordered that way and 2018 Rubicon 2 door, 2.0 turbo - ordered), leather v. cloth thread, etc.
As many can tell and apparently in some instances to their...
I strongly disagree about the 2-door Wrangler - the CJ is at the core of Jeep's heritage and it started what it is today a movement. They will always build the 2 door Wrangler - if you notice the dealer inventories through the Jeep website there's not a 2 door Rubicon JL to be found - they sell...
I don't think you're correct about that. I know for a fact that Jeep monitors these forums - they shut down one forum that was tracking Jeep Wrangler orders earlier this year in the related webpage to this one for JL Wrangler forum. And as stated by the Jeep Design chief in the referenced video...
