The cards used in Kia are encrypted and tied to a single VIN on the card. You had to get quite a bit of info from your infotainment screen before ordering your update. I would assume this is somehow similarly locked.

I thought certain colors are more expensive to insure, red for example, because they're more sought after by thieves. I don't know that they ask that much because the info is on your VIN. Repainting a different color isn't done by your average consumer.
