I've always liked this style of bumper on the Tacos, it is nice to see it make its way over to the JT.
Could you also measure how wide each side is? I'm wondering if they could be opened with my OGT trailer hitched up.
I'm not a sand rat, so my thought process might be off on this. But I would think in dune running that you could have wheel speeds in excess of 30mph while the vehicle was going slower than 30mph. That only applies if the JT uses wheel sensors to determine it's speed.
That is true, the tow rating is down to 6000lbs. But lets not kid our selves, that is more than enough to pull any true off road trailer (including the Black Series HQ15 which is 23' long, over 7' wide and almost 10' tall). So while it is a compromise, it is one that has little real world effect.
This edition has the same payload as the manual Rubi (and more than the auto Rubi) and the towing falls almost in the middle of the manual and auto Rubi. So, I think that is a pretty good spot to be in.
I personally was going to get the auto Rubi because I wanted the lockers and a few other...
I'm waiting to see if this desert edition/trim will have the cold weather group options. lol It gets cold in the desert at night and in the early mornings.
This had my interest as well. For an overlanding builds, something between the Sport S max and the Rubi is needed... this might just be it. I don't think we'll see this edition/trim in the diesel though due to the 4.10s :(
Any reason it has to be a diesel JT? GenRight Off Road has confirmed that they will be doing an extended range fuel tank for the JT, so the 3.6L should be able to get some good range with that mod. Of course, if you want all that low end torque, it looks like the Landcruiser will be the winning...
The US spec 3.6 gas Sport with max tow package is rated at 7,650lbs (3470kg). They have said that the diesel will tow less than the 3.6, as of now we still don't know how much less. Of course Jeep could always release different specs for the Aussie market. That said, I don't see how they...
Go ahead and buy that Landcruiser you have been looking at. The gas 3.6 does not even hit 3500kg towing in its best form and Jeep has already stated that the diesel will tow less.
So the one I ordered showed up yesterday. The quality of it leaves a lot to be desired. I'm going to try and find one that is made a little better. In the mean time, I also have to see if I can find the Gladiator font and the Launch Edition badge/logo art.
Has anyone figured out what font is used for the stock Gladiator badges? It is probably a custom logo that Jeep had done up, but I thought I would ask just in case.
I'll be one of those people that has to reconsider the diesel is the payload is reduced by much at all from the gasser. I can deal with the tow rating going down all the way to 5,000lb as that will still more than meet my needs (just got the wife a 2020 Ram 1500 Hemi to tow bigger stuff if...
I'm not sure about the sward that Jeep sends out, but the one I ordered from Amazon looks like it is coming from Helm. At least, I got a shipment notice from Helm and I don't recall ordering anything else this week.
There is plenty to do here in the Springs and surrounding areas. A drive up Pikes Peak is good way to kill part of a day. Garden of the Gods could kill a whole day if the two of you like to take walks (there is also some hiking in GotG if you guys are up to it). And of course there are tons...
Well, FCA calls it the 3rd Gen with 80% new parts. But none of that really matters. As you said your self the 1st Gen 3.6 is a phenomenal engine, so it is possible that this new version of the ED could be as well. We just don't know yet. I do agree that for overlanding trips in 3rd world...
I've not heard about these yet. Do they come with the JT when you buy it, or was it another LE only thing? I did just find one on the Jeep.com website for $4.95, so I went ahead and ordered it. Things like this tend to disappear after while.
