I'm waiting to see what the numbers are on the diesel JT, but I'm down in Peyton (just east of Colorado Springs). I've currently got a decently built JKUR and did about 20 trails a year for about 4 years. The past couple of years I've been doing more overland type trips, so that is what I'm...
Is there a straight on side view of these wheels some place? I could PS them onto a Ocean Blue JLUR pretty easily. Do you have a soft top, hard top or color mached hard top?
I would go with the ACE Upper Decker and then have a mount made up that would attach your kayak to their RTT mount. That would be a clean, multipurpose setup that would not cost too much.
Nice pics and nice trip Greg. Anytime you want someone to do a fall colors trip with you (or any other trip really), just let me know. I'm waiting to see what the diesel numbers look like, but my JKUR sees a lot of trail and overland action.
The same goes for you @jeepincb
It might be big enough. In the vid he says that the JT-D is going to have the longest range of any Wrangler. The 2.0T gets 24 highway (they were using highway numbers in the vid) and has a 21.5 gallon tank, for a total range of 516 miles. For the JT-D to have the longest range with a 18.3...
I've not seen it announced anywhere, but I'm beginning to think it will keep the same 22g tank. I think there is enough room on the JT to not have the DEF tank interfere with the fuel tank size. At least I'm hoping that is the case. If they drop it down to 18.3 like in the JL, even at 24mpg...
I'm wondering how much of that bed is actually usable at the foot area. It looks pretty tight for the last 12~18 inches down there. Also, what is up with the huge gap between the tent bottom and cab roof? I can see leaving some room for the Freedom panels to be pulled off, but that is a big...
The only change I see in the top 4 spots is a swap between Chevy and Ford. The Taco is going to stay on top. They have the TRD models that will satisfy 85%-90% of the off road buys out there (very few of us do any real crawling) and they have "normal" models to meet every day truck buyers...
Please do share your build. Those are the wheels I like and back when I was about to buy the ZR2 diesel, I was looking really hard at the Nuthouse lineup. I even went to Expo West in 2018 to talk to them and see their stuff in person. I was very happy with both.
The Hiker is still on my short list and I like it best for a semi DIY platform.
The Offgrid trailers are sleep inside designs that come with a standard roof rack that you can put a RTT on (or anything else). That option is appealing for me as the little guy can go up top with any friend he...
I initially was looking at RTT trailers, but I'm since changed my mind and agree with you. I don't need to drag around a cargo trailer that I put my tent on. Right now I'm really liking the Offgrid Expedition 2.0 and the Hiker Off Road models.
There are lots of things in CA that I would not...
I'm not overly crazy about it either, but it is a full height option for less than a grand.
After this weekends photography outing down in New Mexico, I'm looking at off road trailers again. Life would have been so much easier if I could have dropped the trailer, setup camp and then sped off...
JCR Offroad makes a cab height bed rack for less than $800. I've been running their bumpers on my JKUR for about 6 years now. They make great stuff.
On the soft vs hard RTT topic, I've had a soft RTT for about 5 years now and I'm looking at upgrading it to a hard clamshell RTT when I build...
