I like the idea but don't want to dedicate bed space to a pull out. It is frustrating to have to unpack things just for something simple on the trail. The simplest I have had so far is a small chuck box packed near the tail gate. On my off road trailer I used side boxes with the lid folding down...
I added a simple overhead shelf up out of the way to carry tarps and what not. Put a 10X10 canvas tarp and a Eureka timberline 4 man tent up there just to try it out. Still plenty of room.
I grew up using all sorts of gas stoves and lanterns. Great products that last forever. This one is a 1980. I have several found at yard sales. I find liquid fuel easier to store and use than canisters or propane tanks that need to be refilled.
Looks great. Nice organized and under cover. Your seat delete provides an amazing amount of room inside. I haven't done one yet. If I do it will be the 40% behind the drivers seat.
Looks pretty well organized under the cover. The electric fridge is a great idea for longer trips. I may pick one up but I cant make up my mind about it yet.
I have carried them laying down or on their back under my cover before I changed to a topper. I have seen a can rack that mounts them on their back. They also have a 2 1/2 gal can that will sit upright under the cover. Great fuel cans, I have used them for years and never had a problem with leaks.
Trying to keep it simple and old school. No need for all the fancy rolly things and high tech stuff to fiddle with and break.
Playing around with where to put things in the truck bed. I rehabbed the old chuck box and food box from our previous Japan and Alaska adventures and found they fit...
The truck topper project continues. Mounted a shovel, axe and water bucket to the inside of my drivers side topper door. Out of the way and secure but easy to access when needed.
The doors are all done. Last thing to do is shorten the roof rack tomorrow. I'm pretty pleased with myself. $400 and some arts and crafts for a cool lightweight topper. The side doors make it so easy to access the bed. It was made for a Toyota 6 foot bed. The width is pretty good, and its just a...
I haven't read thru the thread yet but the short answer is no. Stock is more than capable. And you don't need to spend tons of cash on an already expensive truck to have a blast. I have used a 2 inch spacer lift for just a little more clearance for the back roads but will keep the rest stock. I...
Thank you. Its moving along but slower than I would like. Chores and other things keep coming up, but You know how that goes.
The frame is finished and the roof trimmed and back on. Now its time to shorten the doors. I went back over your build but couldn't find info on venting the topper. Small...
Looking at the bed dimensions some models are close enough to use. I was trying to find a Toyota double cab short bed to use but gave up after a year of looking for used. I picked up an ARE for a 2000 something 6 foot bed and cut off 13 inches.
