Took advantage of the Hotheads Headliner Memorial Day discount (10%) and got my headliner + sound assassin ordered. After my recent extended highway drive, and my upcoming summer plans for a 2 week driving vacation with the family... I think having less road noise and ambient heat will be a good...
I have all the tools I need (except a 10mm aka 25/64" bit) so that's not a problem, I'll try it with a step bit and see how it works out. I got the Tow Pro Elite and the Ram harness which I swapped the cables on so it works for Gladiator. I'll compare it to the Tekonsha stuff. Thanks...
I like that position a lot, it sort of looks like it belongs. =oP But is super visible... I have an issue with the lower panel people use (that I was considering as well) in that it's out of my line of sight and I don't wan to have to go searching for it when i need it (which will probably be...
The trailer is easily less than 2500 so I'm going to guess your recommendation is because he has both a trailer and a heavy load in the bed? I hadn't considered needing weight distribution unless the tongue weight on the trailer was particularly bad.
There was only 1 soft topper at the time... Softopper. Bestop has theirs available now, but thats only recent. The Softopper has a "solid" window by default, but they make a DIY kit to let you modify it for your sliding window.
*FYI Bestop owns Softopper, which allowed them to make their own...
I think you're looking at the Alpine Premium Audio, not the 8.4" Radio. Note that when you get the 8.4" Radio it automagically upgrades you to Premium audio... so for the price difference it's usually worth it to go bigger radio if you're looking at upgrading the audio anyway.
Yah i'm not gonna say I don't like the paint job and how it looks, but I'm super dubious of that $15k statement. Obviously they're just trying to inflate its value at auction... but still.
I'm very interested in the PHEV Jeeps and will be watching, though I'd give it a few years so there is some infrastructure in place for keeping it charged. I don't care about the savings per mile as much as the impact on the environment, we're all headed towards electric and I'm ok with that...
YouTube just threw this video up for me today, it seems applicable to this question... though it's talking about Falcon v Fox for vans. In short... Fox is aggressive at reducing quality of parts to meet price points. You can be certain that the Fox branded Jeep shocks are made for the lowest...
He's asked that there isn't too much revealed, so I'm not sure what a fair amount is. It's obvious that he has a different comfort level driving around Australia than Africa and his planning is even more minimalist than Africa was. He talked shit about my softopper, so I'm still mad at him right...
The ability to "make it your own" is really the treasure in the Wrangler/Gladiator platform. While I hate that I feel obligated to improve suspension, I do appreciate that I can get out there and do it myself. When our ego about the model we drive and the money we spend on cars doesn't get in...
What's curious is that the Wranglers and Gladiators have all of this DNA of awesome off-roading without even adding front/rear lockers. Go do a search on the YouTube for Brake Lock Differentials and you'll see that a smart person in a standard Wrangler Sport is going to be able to do almost as...
They literally all have the same amazing resale value... it *seems* like Rubicon is better because they're more expensive to begin with. This has been debunked in countless Wrangler posts.
My recommendation, don't buy your vehicle with your resale plans, buy it for your needs.
This is sadly so true. I'm going to be doing $2k worth of upgrading to make my truck feel fun to drive (or less like a death trap) for the mountain camping season. At least it was on my roadmap of upgrades anyway.
To be fair, I swapped from Max Tow stuff to the Rubicon within the first month I had it... maybe it would have all been fine. (c: I will now chime in to say "Rubicon Shocks does not necessarily mean improvement" every time someone asks.
Any time a company makes a one off version for another company, especially to sell as many units as needed for Jeep... I feel like it'll suffer. That being said, I don't know how the Jeep version of Fox shocks compare to them directly... but I do know that buying directly from Fox seems...
I'm having the same results. I am disgruntled with Jeep at this point that I have to go spend all this money aftermarket to make the thing drive worth a damn. A $40k+ vehicle really should have top notch suspension for the primary use case (roads/highways) and it should last longer than a year.
