At the moment it’s dangling by the shifter lol
But it has a sticky back you peel off and stick somewhere. I wish they would give options for the wire to route from behind, but it sticks out the left side of it like a half inch.
I’m still deciding where I want it. I think I’m going to put it in...
I read some of that thread. I take it back. I won't use solder. I'll actually just get the Mopar® Rear Window Defogger Repair Kit. Part number: 04549275AB.
Maximus-3 got back to me:
"It mounts to the bottom side of the bumper/skid plate via our bracket."
Here is a picture from their instruction booklet. I think I'm gonna buy that one.
oh wow. I didn't even think to check the jl forum.
I'm going to just try and solder tonight. The stuff on it looks like solder, so i'm going to try heating that up and sticking it back on.
I noticed the hot air issue yesterday.
Truck was topless, so I turned the AC off, and maybe after 10 minutes or so I felt hot air at my feet. I checked and checked again, the vents were definitely pushing hot air. As soon as I turned the AC back on, it turned to cold.
Totally agree with this and it makes sense. Too much to consider if they tried to make that inverter bigger, especially since most people will really just give it light use. For the more advanced users, we can go ahead and install something better.
My guess is MPG will go down a bit... but I don't have any concrete numbers just yet.
It does work with the manual - there is a setting for it when you first set it up.
Take a look at their FAQs, they explain in some detail what the iDrive is actually doing: https://idrive-usa.com/pages/faqs
I went to take the roof off, touched this and it broke.
It's the passenger side bus bar for the rear window defroster on the hardtop.
I think I just need to resolder it on.
EDIT 2019-08-06:
I tried two different kits to fix this, the first was from PepBoys and is readily available. It is the...
Looks like the part number for the bed power outlet is 68312754AB - which is the same as that of the 2019 Ram 1500 bed outlet.
What I can't tell from the diagrams is if the wiring is already there for it - as in, running to the bed.
Soooo..... the inverter is on the drivers side, under the steering wheel. Not hard to get to - but not directly replaceable without more brain power than I currently possess. Both LIN and CAN buses are involved. No use messing with that.
The easier thing is to put in a new one, somewhere else...
Page 192 of the manual says:
------
For off-road recovery, it is recommended to use both of the front tow hooks to minimize the risk of damage to the vehicle. Always use an appropriately rated tow strap.
CAUTION! Tow hooks are for emergency use only, to rescue a vehicle stranded off road. Do...
