  1. GDE is back and making EPA compliant tune!

Anyone else that has the tune think the "diesel engine" sound is louder than stock? Or am I just imagining that lol. Not that I mind, as I like the sound of diesel engines.
  2. NOx code, egr replace @29k

Hmm that much soot with 31K miles... I'm betting something wasn't working properly the whole time.
  3. Diesel Engine issue tracking thread... also please post if NO issues!

Ya I guess in another 10K miles when I go to change the fuel filter, I'll play around with it. Prime the system about ten times, and crack open the water filter drain and see if any air comes out. I don't see how that could do any harm.
  4. Diesel Engine issue tracking thread... also please post if NO issues!

Ya that's a good point... is there a return line from the filter housing back to the fuel tank. I'll see if I can find a schematic. Not sure there could be, as it would fight with the return line from the fuel rail on the engine. EDIT: This thread has a ton of pics...
  5. Diesel Engine issue tracking thread... also please post if NO issues!

Ya but that air has to go somewhere, no matter how much you prime. Just watched a Youtube video of a guy that primed 12 times, and had a good 4 seconds of engine turnover before starting.
  6. Diesel Engine issue tracking thread... also please post if NO issues!

Since the fuel filter "bottom cap" is quite small, instead of filling that cap with diesel before screwing the filter and cap back on, what if I were to slightly crack open the water drain plug while priming the system? So it would go something like this: 1. Replace fuel filter. 2. Screw fuel...
  7. GDE is back and making EPA compliant tune!

GDE sent the trans file this afternoon and I got a chance to drive around, city, highway and some off-road. The turbo lag is WAY reduced, throttle response is heightened. I really hated the stock turbo lag so this is a big win here. Truck definitely feels way quicker and quicker shifting up and...
  8. Mopar Releases New Doors-off Mirror Kit for Jeep Gladiator

lol I ordered the Doors off mirror kit from factory without looking into it. I just assumed it relocated mirrors forward to the side of the fender cowl. I opened the box and was like "what the hell is this". Then I realize MOPAR wants you to remove the doors and install this...
  9. GDE is back and making EPA compliant tune!

Woops, I guess I didn't read the part about after you get the ECU back from GDE, you have to then send them the read trans download file and wait to get it back before you can finish the install. Guess no truck this weekend. :lipssealed: Just make sure you plan for that if you get the tune lol.
  10. Dash Cam and Mounting

I just pre-ordered the Ring auto cam. It has everything I need; front view and interior view, plus can talk through it, cloud upload videos, check on car real time with the LTE $60/year subscription which I think is a fair price.
  11. Show stoppers / reliability and spare parts for remote travel with diesel Gladiator.

I've also just remembered that tye diesel has start/stop functionality, which I disabled via Tazer. In theory, the engine has a much stronger/durable starter motor because of the design and the starter should last a very long time just doing normal "once per drive" engine starts.
  12. Show stoppers / reliability and spare parts for remote travel with diesel Gladiator.

Is it hard to prevent diesel drips inside? Have you *had* to use the Titan before to get you out of an unplanned situation/fuel consumption? I'm just wondering if I can accomplish what I want to do with a 5 gallon Jerry can to save the bed space the Titan would take up.
  13. Who knew! Damnit!

I fill tires with 78% nitrogen for only $50 per wheel. Please let me know 30 minutes before you arrive.
  14. Show stoppers / reliability and spare parts for remote travel with diesel Gladiator.

I didn't mention the "camper" aspect of it as that will really take another thread. I'm trying to keep the camper part of it as light as possible allow more "off-road" type gear. I have an RLD stainless bed cap (about 200lb) on which I'm cutting the rear cab bulkhead of the Gladiator, the front...
  15. Show stoppers / reliability and spare parts for remote travel with diesel Gladiator.

Remote.. like tops of mountains and way beyond forest roads remote. I've done quite a bit of remote camping/overlanding in my Power Wagon, but want to go even deeper. Mainly the Colorado/Wyoming/Montana/Idaho/Utah/Arizona area, with some sporadic trips to the PNW/Alaska etc. All times of...
  16. Show stoppers / reliability and spare parts for remote travel with diesel Gladiator.

I haven't seen much on this topic so I thought I'd start one. I will be using my JTRD for very remote travel/remote camping in all weather conditions (more rough trail/rock crawling and I avoid mud). I'd like the truck to be as reliable as possible, and curious on other peoples thoughts below...
  17. JT Diesel Snorkel

Ya I think I will pass on a snorkel if it's causing air volume issues for the EcoDiesel. My JTRD is getting 37's and a 3.5" lift which will lift the air intake almost 6 inches. Being in Colorado, I'm not going to be doing any crazy water crossings.
  18. Gas Prices Are Still Dropping With No Signs Of Stopping.

Diesel by me is almost $5/gallon again.
  19. Diesel Engine issue tracking thread... also please post if NO issues!

I'm about to replace my first fuel filter at 10K miles and had a thought. Since air in the lines can cause problems with the CP4, what if I pre-filled the filter housing with diesel when replacing the filter? This should really minimize air having to go through the lines. I know the owners...
