Agreed. Unless Jeep surprises us all and releases a 5.7 option in the future, and as long as MN winters haven't destroyed my frame, I'll look into a 5.7 or 392 swap when the ecoD bites the dust. Assuming AMW can swap a diesel chassis.
Idealy I'd like to see it actually broke down WHY payloads are what they are. Like the actual data;
"When we tested the rotarygirdle, we found that the longevity of the scirmlbuckle was significantly reduced at loads over 1,213 lbs, and we saw significant scoring of the spherical shaftnickle...
The original post was literally stating 1000lbs... and was asking if the truck is under rated at 900lbs, not about the legalities or if the Iowa State Patrol was going to come after them. So the real question should be, why does it always end up someone comes in and derails a thread to try and...
I mean, if we really want to nitpick, adding wheels, tires, suspension, gawdy cell phone holders that block vision, 100 ducks on the dash... anything that didn't come on the truck as a factory item can be used against you in an accident.
In the end, stay within the left and right limits. If...
The way I look at it, if I'm within a couple hundred lbs of GVWR I'm not too worried. The number on the sticker is not the failure point of the system, theres always a buffer factored in. It is, however, a point which engineers have deemed a safe line to draw in the sand where safety meets...
I had a BMW X5 diesel, absolutely loved it. Comfortable, all the creature comforts and tech, tuned with loads of torque. I sold it and bought a Tacoma. I HATED THAT TRUCK. Uncomfortable, gutless, tech was garbage, boring as all hell to drive. I tried to get myself to like it, but after a year I...
You will see wildly varying mpg claims from people on the internet with pretty much every vehicle type out there, but especially with trucks. Far too many variables to have any type of consistency.
Need to take into consideration if you remote start your truck or let it idle often, that makes...
Wait, you're running 2.5 up front and nothing rear? Are you doing that stupid Carolina Squat crap?
Ditto. If the claim from RC is it's a 3.5" lift and removes rake, then it's a 3.5 lift that removes rake.
How heavy do you get when loaded? And how do the 4.5 coils manage that weight in regards to handling, both on and off road?
I have AEV HD 3.5 springs right now and it's just tall enough that I can't park in the garage, so I've been looking into other spring options to sit a tad lower but still...
I've had this happen a couple times. Now when it's cold enough and the fob doesn't unlock the doors, I cup it in my hands and blow warm air onto it for a minute and it works fine.
I've also had problems where the truck refuses to start, even when pushing the start button with the fob. This...
It really should be selective. If I wanted to test my products I'd be looking at who is going to actually test them in the ways I want to see results from.
Fender liners? I'd want to see them go through hell and see how they held up. Take em on rough trails, take em through salt and snow, mud...
Jasper Jeep Jam is one event we will always try to make sure we can attend.
This year we (my podcast co-host and I) will be giving a class or two on maps and OnX Offroad, so thats exciting. I've been kind of let down when attending various events classes on maps (I go to see if I can learn...
I too have the AEV with HD springs. I love it. Rides good when unloaded, rides even better when loaded. My only complaint is I net a little more lift than expected and I can no longer park in the garage with my RTT mounted lol.
Better off looking at an actual dash cam vs trying to make a GoPro work as one, especially with the crazy amount of options today at cheap prices.
Personally I think the best option out there is the Wolfbox mirror, as it can record front and rear, and if you get the tripro you can use a third...
I'm about to completely clean out my truck, and bring it to the scale in stock form (except with winch and 35's), and then weigh again after adding my cap, RTT, drawers, etc. I suspect I'll be real close to GVWR, likely over.
I'm curious to see if they affect coolant/oil temps with the diesel. I doubt it, but maybe airflow would be altered just enough to give us a miracle lol
