Is there a way to change from the capped fuel tank to capless like the old Stant part?

Bigger trucks do not always get worse MPG and they're not always more expensive.
My buddies 2017 GMC Sierra Denali 2500HD (Duramax) gets 28 MPG cruising on the interstate at 67MPH. He drives a little slow because he is used to being in his monitored company service truck for most of his driving.

Makes me so mad. Giant ass 3/4 ton 4x4 truck sneaking in just under 30 and I'm celebrating if I can pull 18.5 at the same speed 😄

Now, I don't have Duramax/Allison repair bills...

I'm not even going to get started on Ford's long term reliability with their modern trucks (specifically the ecoboost lineup) other than this: warranty ends earlier on the turbo(s) than the rest of the powertrain, and their plastic ONE-TIME-USE tranny pans on transmissions that are known for failures.

If you're pinching pennies on "semi synthetic" oils...good for you.

A V8 that get better mpgs than a V6, which both weight withing 800lbs of each other and the V8 has WAY more off the line torque...come on people, this is common sense especially with less gears on the V6 tranny. Power to Weight Ratios?

Most trucks also aren't shaped like a brick as much as the Jeeps are, aero drag is a bitch above 55mph.

Those 2500 Gassers have ATM (cylinder deactivation, and known for decent highway mpgs since they're running on 4/6 cylinders).

That duramax, yeah it make 3x the low end torque, uses 2x the fuel (costs more too), and has higher maintenance costs. Granted it weighs more, the power delivery is a huge difference.

Gladiators aren't the best truck, they're a fun truck. I think we can all agree on that?

You haven’t used it yet for what it is! Wait until summertime, take the roof and doors and roll that awesome machine on the beach! It will change your mind!
Ironically, this idea nauseates me. I use my truck like a truck, and it's full of junk to go about day to day life, and having to clean all of that out to go for an open air drive in Louisiana sounds like hell.

The Ram 6.4 has MDS, but the Ford 7.3 (Godzilla) and the 6.6L from GM do not.

I don't even find the Gladiator to be particularly fun, but again I'm at that point in my life where my truck is for honey do's and hauling people. I don't go do 'fun' stuff with it.

When I bought it, I had thought I'd be leaning into more overlanding type stuff with my Jeep friends that I did a lot with in my 2 door. Well. Turns out we don't even spend time with each other anymore.

It's nimble, easy to see out of, easy to drive downtown, and does the work I ask of it though - so it's earned its keep in the driveway so far.

I understand I may be an outlier on this forum and I do not hype up the Gladiator or try to sell anyone on it, and I don't offroad it much and I don't care that the roof and doors come off. So there's that.

So if someone wants to dump it for a full size truck - I'll be your hype man. lol.

How much did the fox 2.0 run? Does it stabilize the rear end some so slight bumps aren’t so jarring or have such a hefty rebound?
The 2.0 typically runs $400-$450. For me, I liked that it allowed me to adjust the steering feel. My previous car had 3 settings for the steering; touring, sport and track. The jeep to me felt like "touring." The ATS with a setting of 12 felt more like "sport." I am a rookie when it comes to suspension options on the JT, I just know they vary a lot between models. Personally I have never noticed a rebound on bumps or any instability in the rear end.

Yea I had sport, track and street options which was nice. And for stability I meant more so with the 2.0, are bumps as harsh as they are with the stock? And the rebound is more for like going over like a small train track hill the rear kind of floats up and down.

I had a BMW X5 diesel, absolutely loved it. Comfortable, all the creature comforts and tech, tuned with loads of torque. I sold it and bought a Tacoma. I HATED THAT TRUCK. Uncomfortable, gutless, tech was garbage, boring as all hell to drive. I tried to get myself to like it, but after a year I traded it in on my Gladiator and I couldn't be happier. I still regret selling the X5, but I do love my Gladiator, but I also wanted a truck because it was a better fit for my needs.

I needed about a year of owning the Tacoma before I could trade it with minimal loss, so maybe figure out how long you need to stick it out with the Gladi before you can start looking at a trade? In the end, gotta do what makes you happy and keeps you healthy as well, and if the Gladi isn't that, well...

If you want a full size truck with great gas mileage look at the F-150 powerboost. My previous vehicle was a 2022 Powerboost limited with the 7.5kwh battery. It was awesome. It had the same amount of power as the Raptor, got 28mpg and could go 750 miles on a single tank of gas, had an on board generator with a 4 120v outlets and 1 240v outlet. I powered my house using it for 3 days during a winter power outage.

What is the Ford turbo warranty vs the drivetrain warranty?

I'm not pinching pennies on oil, I'm using the recommended oil for both vehicles.

I don't understand the "common sense" comment about MPG. Didn't you say the full size would get worse MPG?
Getting a bigger truck isn't going to make your mpg concerns any better, just worse...

Solid advice. That's also what one dealership said. Hold it for a year and I will take less of a loss than I would if trading it back now. But yea, each time I drive it, I find myself depressed. Who knows, maybe in a year from now I will have a different outtake on it. I don't think I will, but never say never I guess. I do have one last ditch effort that I'm going to check this Saturday before I lock myself into holding it for a bit. So we will see. Its a shitty feeling. But when I look at it and see that Reign color pop in the sun, It makes me want to love it, but that all changes once I start driving it LOL. And that damn glare on the mojave hood it came with kills me.

You could always buy a Ridgeline.

Not only would I drive a Ridgeline, I'd join a Ridgeline forum and crow on and on about Ridgelines and whatever disfunctions they have - just like I do here 😂

But nah. If I ever get done with Gladys, back to fullsizes I go.

Ya, I got a Mohave, but I wanted a Jeep. My last car was loaded. I liked having all that crap, but the market for jeep upgrades is so large that you can make any trim into whatever you want, if you want a Jeep...... You'll soon figure this out. If you don't I feel for ya.
I just f figured he could make a better deal if he didn't wait and if like I said he wants a Jeep.

Does that statement sum it all up ??
