Is there a way to change from the capped fuel tank to capless like the old Stant part?

Congrats! I traded a C7 manual on my JT. Sounds funny, but having way more fun with my JT. Given the short Minnesota season, bad roads, curbs, potholes, I was only driving my Vette about 2000 miles a year. I really don't miss it. But if I had room in the garage, I would consider a 2 door Wrangler to take its place . . .
I didn't 'miss' my Camaro exactly when I got rid of the '13, but it's nice having one again alongside the JT. You can drive sports cars year round here so mine gets used plenty when I don't need the truck for something. I'll drive it any weather or temp.

Biggest con is we now no longer have a comfortable vehicle between the 2 of us for long drives.
What is the issue with the ride? We drove our Max Tow Gladiator over 108k miles in 5 years, so that we had to replace my wife's car with a Bronco Sport to absorb the miles.

I find my SS Camaro and the Gladiator to be pretty similar to each other.

Neither one rides terribly well, and both are fairly noisy. I've been in both for several hours and again, I can't call either a clear winner.

The only 'advantage' that the SS has is plowing down the interstate at 90MPH more effortlessly than the Gladiator 😂

I traded in my 2021 Mustang GT Premium for a 2024 Gladiator Mojave. While I do miss the power, sound, and fuel economy of the Mustang, I appreciate the reliability and flexibility the Gladiator provides—particularly the ability to travel confidently in adverse weather and to haul cargo when needed. Additionally, I still have my 1967 in the garage for those occasions when I feel the need to enjoy some classic horsepower.

There's literally a hook on the fuel door to hold the cap and prevent it from touching the body panels.

You also realize those "capless" systems often fail due to corrosion and dirt buildup much earlier, leading to "small evap leaks", CELs, and MORE annoyance than using a near 100 y/o design. It's also easier for people to steal fuel since they don't lock.

Enjoy your new truck. Other than this minor drawback, what else do you want to change that you miss from the Charger (other than mpg)?
They fail often?

I've never heard this or experienced this.

it’s just not as comfortable as a ride as other vehicles. And to me with back issues, not the best seats to ride for long distance. Which is something else we didn’t really think through. My back issues won’t get any better without surgery and even that’s not garunteed. So having a comfortable vehicle for long distance was something we had always had. I had a challenger and we had a grand Cherokee for drives. She had the wrangler and I had the charger.

i took the gladiator on a 2 hour round trip and each way when we stopped my back and legs were as stiff as a board.

With the right options you can get what you want. If you go used you can get the EcoDiesel and still get great gas mileage. I am running 42s on a 6.5inch lift and still getting 17-20mpg and have plenty of power to get up and move when I need to. With katzin you can add the ventilated seats. After reading all your post it really doesn't sound like you want a jeep anyways. Even if you got the options you wanted you still probably wouldn't be happy with it. Life is about being happy so if you aren't happy with it get something that will make you happy. I've been there and got the wrong car and hated every minute of driving it and finally got rid of it and took a loss. Is what it is. You can always call the dealership and see what they can do to get you into a car you want. Best of luck to you.
Thanks. That’s where I’m at. I spoke with the dealer and really don’t feel like taking that big of a loss right now. Other option is if I really can’t stand it, is to come out of pocket and knock off as much as that loss as I can.

I know that feeling and it sucks. If you do decided to keep it and want to make it what you want there are a lot of threads on here about adding the additional features. Just depends on if you want to spend the time and money to do it.

While your charger wasn't shaped like a wedge (think prius), it was not a giant brick going 55+. There's a reason MB went with a TTV8 in the g-wagon, and why it still only gets 12-14mpg but can go 165mph, power AND it's a brick. Expecting ANY truck to do REAL truck things AND get 20mpg or more average is, to be blunt, retarded. Maverick owners are special, just like Ridgeline and Santa Cruz owners...they at least understand they bought a car with a small utility bed.

As far as scratches, I've taken my 21 Willys through the brush/woods and I don't notice any scratches on my paint. I do have a few minor marks on the black plastic mirror covers, but that's from thorn bushes, the paint is still fine and I've hit that trail probably 10x this year easily. Just get a good wash/wax habit, I go to Delta Sonic (car wash/gas/detail chain here) at least once a week, sometimes per day. No scratches yet (knock on wood).

Really sounds like you shouldn't have bought a Sport S, at least without the MaxTow package (4.10 gears), Convenience Group, and Active Safety Group...as that would have cured all the complaints you have other than mpg...but again it's a brick compared to a wedge. Maybe the dealer will let you trade on another Sport S with those packages for a small loss. Call between 10:30-14:30 and ask for the General Manager, be polite and tell them what you wanted vs what you got. Explain short and sweet what you would like to do, and ask what they can do to remedy this situation...in exchange for a great google review. They want to have repeat sales, losing out on ANOTHER sale, and potentially another sale from your referral of service is NOT something they want.
I think this is the winning comment. Call the dealer.

Yes, ford and a few others had so many issues at one point some manufactures stopped using them for a while, or they kept throwing codes for small evap leaks at the capless fitting. Compared to a standard cap system, yes they fail more often. While maybe one vehicle doesn't repeatedly, I'm talking about the mass quantity percentage of failures of a more complex design vs a simple design that requires user error to have more issues.

Also capless systems are more expensive to repair when they fail as more parts are often made into one piece vs just the filler neck or cap. They're also prone to freezing shut in places with severe weather. But most of the US doesn't experience this anymore, so I can see why people may not agree about their "convenience". The same people I see forgetting their gas caps are the same people who don't use blinkers and are on their phone when they drive.

Could be I’ve never heard of issues because I’ve never had any myself with 400k miles and 3 different Fords. The highest mileage one being 270k miles with zero issues.

Could try calling the dealer, but it sounds like OP wants to something else. I don’t think a more loaded JT is the answer.
Ya, I got a Mohave, but I wanted a Jeep. My last car was loaded. I liked having all that crap, but the market for jeep upgrades is so large that you can make any trim into whatever you want, if you want a Jeep...... You'll soon figure this out. If you don't I feel for ya.
I just f figured he could make a better deal if he didn't wait and if like I said he wants a Jeep.
