  1. Bought Another Jeep Today

It's the one in the middle. My Jeep is the Gladiator. My wife's dream car is the Challenger, which she rarely drives because she is afraid to get it dirty or park it next to another vehicle. We've owned it for a year and a half and it has 4000 miles on it. My wife's daily driver has been a...
  2. Mods you regret

I regret upgrading my Mojave from the stock 33" tires to 35" tires. I only had the 35" tires on the truck for 3 months and upgraded again to 37" tires. 35s are too close to the same size as stock, it doesn't look any different, and they don't provide nearly as much improvement in function...
  3. I think my dog has a snowcain problem

Looks like a wonderful dog. Thanks for sharing the picture.
  4. Springsteen did what???

I didn't even know it was Springsteen when I watched the ad in the Super Bowl. I just thought it was some tough old guy in a nice CJ. Kind of reminded me of several CJ's I have owned, and I liked the message of the ad. I remember thinking "good job, Jeep" after watching the ad, because it was...
  5. Gladiator in snow - disappointment?

My JT Mojave works as good as pretty much any other 4x4 vehicle I have owned in snow, and better than many of them. I run 37" Toyo MTs, and don't seem to have any problems. I have found that pushing the Off-Road+ button improves drive ability pretty much any time it is in 4x4. Shift points...
  6. COVID VACCINE

I have received both vaccines (Moderna). The first vaccine gave me an arm ache and made me feel exhausted for a few days. The second vaccine made me feel exhausted for a few days, and that is all. I work as a hospitalist, and admit covid patients every shift that I work. I am also 60 years...
  7. Eco diesel Suspension bottoming out on normal roads

So his JTDR has 1 1/2" of up travel before the rubber bump stop pad contacts the axle pad? I was curious, so I just measured my Mojave, and I have 3 1/2" of up travel before the hydraulic bump stop pad contacts the axle pad. That is a pretty big difference. No wonder he is feeling it bottom...
  8. Lets see the spacer lifts

No I have not regeared. Absolutely no need to, it drives great right the way it is with the 8 speed transmission
  9. Lets see the spacer lifts

Teraflex 2 1/2" front spacers and 1 1/2" rear spacers. Also used matching height bump stop spacers and shock extension brackets. Then to complete the lift I used a Teraflex adjustable front track bar and Teraflex Sport front lower control arms.
  10. Why not buy a full size truck for the same price?

For me it was because I already own a full size truck, and use it to tow this. And because the full size truck wont fit down the trail, or work as well off road as a nice JT will, like this. Different trucks for different purposes.
  11. Near Death Experiences

I competed in AMA National Desert Racing for thirty years on dirt bikes, so lots of near death experiences from that, and one expensive ride on a Life Flight helicopter. The near death experience that stands out though, was not at a desert race. Me and a few desert racing friends were at Sand...
  12. Very curious about the typical forum member - why all the modifications?

I added the modifications I did, so that my Jeep would work like its supposed to. Having enjoyed back country exploring for the last 45 years, from way before they started calling it overlanding, I knew what it would take to get my Gladiator to work the way it is supposed to. I made those...
  13. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

All looks well thought out, with the best components. Like I said before, nicely done.
  14. What do u have coming in the mail?

What do I have coming in the mail? Several boxes of 0.38 ACP
  15. Mojave Bump Stops

The Mojave hydraulic bump stops also make noise when they bottom out. I would describe the sound as a "THUNK", whereas normal rubber bump stops sound like "THUD". The Mojave shocks are super smooth over small to mid size bumps. Anything bigger than that and the suspension just blows through...
  16. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

Nicely done Elise! How about a side photo showing the Motobilt and Artec armor?
  17. How does a 2 inch lift add to the Gladiator?

Pro: Better ground clearance, partly from the 2" of lift itself, and partly from the taller 37" tires the 2" lift lets you run. Total increase in ground clearance is 4", which makes a huge improvement off road. Using a spacer lift that lets you keep the stock springs and shocks, especially if...
  18. LED headlights...too Bright??

The number of people that flash me with this Jeep or my last Jeep with LEDs is no more or less than the number of people that have flashed me with Jeeps that have had halogen lights. These LEDs do a much better job of illuminating the road, but have a very sharp cutoff at the top of the low...
  19. 37's and 4:10 gears

I am running 37" tires on my Gladiator with 4.10 gears and it drives just fine. No problems at all. No need to recalibrate speedometer or change shift points. I used my Lowrance GPS to see how fast I am really going, and now If I want to maintain the 80 mph speed limit on the interstate, I...
