I have a manual transmission and a much heavier Centerforce flywheel. I hate the delay of Auto Start Stop - A.S.S. and use the Tazer to keep it off. I wonder if the heavier flywheel could cause problems in the long run if I were to use A.S.S. ??
Pics pls. Would love to hear how it compares/contrasts to the JT. I’ve talked to a couple guys with a Grenadier and it’s on my wife’s list after her Bronco.
Has zero to do with 5.13 vs 4.88 and everything to do with Yukon making Chinesium junk. I have Spicer 5.38 now and I expect that my unborn Grandkids will be able to drive this 40 years from now.
Designed by committee is a high complement to the “Swiss army knife” functionality of the Gladiator. Not pretty, functional, does what it needs to do. My manual transmission 2020 on 2.5” of lift and 37” tires is probably my last new vehicle, not because I’m that old (not even 50 yet) or that...
Throwing this out there. No idea if this helpful….I’m in PA. I got a m220 rear Rubicon - Dana 44 wide axle with Yukon 5.13 gears, sitting on my trailer that the Yukon pinion detonated on the road with little warning which cracked the bottom of the housing. Also PSA… don’t buy Yukon gears, they suck.
What are you trying to do? What tire size are you planning. Pretty good evidence that factory axles hold up reasonably well to 37” tires on and off road. There are those with 38,39,even 40s but as you go bigger, you increase the stress on drivelines.
Also, don’t forget driveshafts in your...
Pics could help if there are issues. Did you have to beat up the knuckles to get em out the 2nd time? Any deformation/rust issues? Nothing about pressing out ball joints normally should cause the need for knurled ball joints. If they are in good shape and seat ok, you should be fine. Good luck.
There are way too many factors to diagnose on the forum. This is an excellent checklist but it can be costly for a shop to spend the time to do all of this. I usually save money and do the diagnostic stuff.

I’m glad they are working for you and I hope they work out. Yukon used to be great but sometime during the pandemic their production and quality control went south. I had 45k miles of light towing, DD and off-roading trails on my gears and thought I got good ones. Then one day on my way to work...
I don’t think this is a 5.13 pinion strength problem - it’s a Yukon quality control problem
I think if the gears aren’t made from Chinesium, 99.999% of people will be fine since it’s a let’s say 5% mass/size difference between 4.88 and 5.13. Nothing I was doing (commuting/daily driver) was...
