That message is based on the battery sensors analysis of the main battery. There could be a problem with the main battery, a problem with the battery sensor, a problem with the aux battery draining the main battery or no problem at all.
Before you buy anything, you can try using a battery...
They were discounted, plus there is a rebate which they say they will honor whenever I get them. For most of that time no one else had them either. I won't need them until spring, so at this point I'm just waiting to see what happens.
I suspect the problem isn't with the auto stop start system, but with another system that's causing the auto stop start to be disabled. Engine misfires can cause auto stop start to be disabled before the misfires trigger their own check engine light.
The battery charging message is based on the battery sensors' analysis of the main battery. I don't think there's any way for the system to know if the aux battery is charging or not.
Here's how I did mine. https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/basic-speaker-upgrade.78065/post-1627216 Start with the tweeters and when you need more, plan on modifying the soundbar for bigger speakers.
If the Genesis kit was the fix for yours, it could still have been a bad N3 fuse or a bad ESS relay (PCR). The Genesis kit bypasses those. What was the fix for the other vehicles?
Here's a diagram that show's the battery connections. The main battery is connected to the aux battery and...
That's probably the most common way people eliminate the aux battery. That's how the Genesis dual battery system eliminates the small aux battery - moving the aux battery positive cables to the main battery.
This thread discusses leaving the aux in place as an emergency spare...
With a properly operating system, both batteries are in parallel all the time except during an ESS event, so batteries tend to go dead together. It's still possible for the aux battery to fail internally in a way that it has low power output and won't discharge the main battery, but that is not...
Yes, but rarely is it just the aux bad, most of the time both batteries are drained. Or as described in this post https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/ess-dual-battery-system-operation.44028/#post-729742 , sometimes a fuse gets blown and you need a jumper to the N1 terminal to...
When the aux battery is tested prior to a cold start, if it can't sufficiently power the system electronics, the electronics shutdown. On the 2018 JLs, the test was repeated every starting attempt so a bad aux battery would strand you. Starting with 2019, once the aux battery fails the test...
