Redline Hood Struts... Stainless because I felt like being extra but I really like not having to use the hood prop. These install super easily, no drilling required.
Hooke Road tailgate panel:
I went cheap on this. I feel like it doesn't matter but I didn't drill the 2 additional holes so if...
Maybe I'm being picky but the Hothead Headliners advertise about how these things are velcro compatible.. They are, but barely. My patches keep falling down so they probably won't stay here.
I'm not afraid to drill my jeep but I ended up using 3m double side adhesive trim tape on the Crow...
I don't really want to talk much about what I plan to do since plans change, mostly I'll just log the things I've done so far for historic purposes.
I didn't do this with my last jeep and now I've done so much that I can't even remember everything that it has. lol
The things I've accomplished...
My son just calls it the "Blue Jeep" so that's the build nickname. I don't really name my vehicles otherwise.
He just turned 4 and really helped push this deal through with my wife. lol, not that I needed approval but it helps.
I found the rig while laying in my rooftop tent in Colorado. I...
Yeah today it's all money and they probably have a line of cars waiting for service. I don't blame them, everybody has a family and business to take care of.
Fun fact... I put the deposit down on my JTRD on starlink at Lake Como, at the top of Poughkeepsie Gulch after doing "The Wall" in my Wrangler.
Salesman said it's a first time selling a car to someone that's on top of a mountain. :CWL:
Mobile sat phones have been unaffordable for decades, is what you meant to say. ;)
And you can use Starlink any way you choose to. It's only $5/month for unlimited "standby mode" which will give you enough bandwidth to text and wifi call (capped at 500Kbps) .. You could even download maps with...
Yeah to each their own, whatever works best for you. A 2024-later is less than a couple years old, so just wait for it. Dealer map updates aren't free. I don't use the in-dash GPS system in any of my cars. My Mercedes doesn't even have a native GPS, because it fully depends on Android Auto/Apple...
Maps need to be updated and a disconnected device is irritating to update. Usually requires downloading files to an SD card and installing from the memory card. That's why the GPS system in your car is terrible and unreliable after a couple years, and auto mfgs are moving to Android Auto/Apple...
Leave the starlink in the jeep and download your offline maps when you figure out where you're going.
GPS devices need to be prepared with maps also. Starlink gives you access to a whole world of knowledge.
Possibly, but Jasper's never saw the motor and didn't know what condition it was in. It's just standard process to give a core refund in exchange for the original damaged motor.
No the shop said they likely couldn't find the root cause, it would just burn money on labor and it was already expensive enough. It was sent back to Jasper's for the core refund.
I know how to load a trailer.. lol it's not luck, it's by design.
This isn't a car trailer with all 2400 lbs above the frame. It's a 1200lbs steel box truck frame, a truck axle, 200 lbs of tires, and light weight steel service body.
Know your load, know your purpose. The weight above the frame...
I'm not asking for advice on my custom trailer. You can judge it if you want but I built it with my father before his stroke and I'll never sell it so it doesn't matter. It handles well, on and off road. Does exactly what we built it to do.
Any specific brand of oil cooler that you'd recommend to kick start my research?
I'll get one on the way so it's ready to install. Appreciate the suggestion.
Yeah I remember my first trip to Ouray with the wrangler and while towing the same trailer, I had to pull over to let it cool down on the million dollar highway. Just slowing down wasn't enough.
Had to do that a few times on that trip, between Ouray and Aspen on some mountain roads also.
It's a jeep.. Nobody owns a stock jeep if they actually go offroad. lol
It has 35" tires, E Lockers front and rear, 4.56 gears, axle truss, c gussets, Metal Cloak 3.5" lift, bumpers, sliders, skid plates, the usual things for running moderate - difficult trails.
The trailer I pull is 2360 lbs...
So far I'm already enjoying it much more than the 3.6. It drives on the highway and over Donner Pass with ease, like a civilized vehicle should. I even passed a few cars on my test drive up I80 just to see if it could and it wasn't a problem.
It's not a rocket ship but still a big improvement...
I have no issues with trans temp. It's rock solid. Seems unreasonable to demand manual shifting in any modern automatic vehicle, but admittedly I have not read the owners manual and can't confirm or deny.
My trailer is a measly 2360lbs on the scale when loaded for 3 weeks.. and more often it's...
