I ran a 3” lift and 35s in Moab, Ozarks, and PA last year. The truck more than capable with minor mods to do 80%+ of trails.
Only recommendation at that height is a hitch skid. It will save you from destroying those poor safety chain eyelets.
I find the deep pools in the forest and narrow paths between trees are the best way to take care your Jeeps paint job. It’s all natural, no harsh chemicals, and your paint was specially formulated to be brushed clean by passing shrubs and trees.
I obviously haven't tried them all, but from my research this is what I saw:
* Nemesis conforms the best to the components that are inside the fenders (in theory creating the best clearance).
* Artec is more of a simple design, but still conforms pretty well. (Though there are a lots of bolts...
After running the 40s on 4.10s all weekend, here are my thoughts:
As usual, the transmission still does a great job. I didn’t notice any hunting and I put ~100 highway miles on this weekend running chores for the family.
I can still see 7th if not going uphill, but never 8th.
If you don’t...
I’m still on the 44s, I’ve just been building them up. Tentatively budgeting for some sort of 60-ish axle in 23, but I want to see how far I can go with these 44s.
I love how light my truck is, and would hate to throw some big heavy axles under it without giving the 44s a chance to show what...
I have finally graduated to the big leagues… @Discount Tire hooked me up with 40s (they were back ordered when I tried to buy them a couple weeks ago :( ) and they arrived 4 weeks sooner than expected!
Going to have to cut my bumper a little tomorrow morning due to rubbing at full lock (then...
If someone is willing to pay for the truck, then it is their truck to do whatever the hell they want with.
That’s kinda the awesome thing about these Jeeps. They are a blank canvas for us to get creative with.
The number of times I’ve drug my bumper VASTLY outnumbers how often breakover angle...
What bakobobby said. For consideration in addition to what you have and has been mentioned:
Reid Knuckles
HD Ball Joints
Also note: I haven't seen a reason to do my gearing yet. The transmission is pretty good. My truck is a trailer queen though, so I guess take that with a grain of salt.
It also depends on what you are doing with it. Lots of examples of people running 40s on the road without any/many upgrades. Yes, yes, not ideal... but lots of folks doing it and it doesn't cost 20k.
Agree with the above though. If you are already thinking about swapping axles, might as well...
Depending on what you are doing, you probably don't need the 2.5 shocks. I'm running a "very" similar setup with the 2.0 shocks for about a year, and the 2.0s are great. I've driven all day bombing fire roads and the shocks weren't even warm.
Ok, so drove to the city yesterday. Gravel roads, paved, winding roads, interstate, and finally city streets.
Honestly, I didn't notice a difference with the new sway bar. Will report back when I get the truck off road :)
It’s a good idea, and I’m considering doing something like that in addition to shortening the bed. I want to try out the shortened bed before making a new bumper though.
Lifting up and cutting back are additive mods IMO, not mutually exclusive.
Ok, calling this modification done for now. Thanks again @SigSauerKraut for going first!
While finishing, biggest suggestion is to buy more paint than you think you need. 4 cans wasn’t enough to do the bed well. I’ve got 10 more on the way so I can mask it up and hit it again later this month...
Finished the bed modifications (for now, going to tweak a couple things later this month) and the truck is road worthy again!
The bed is chopped just enough so I can still fit the spare, my compressor, and yeti 65 in it.
The paint job needs a couple touch ups, but I’m actually surprised how...
