  1. Safe way to keep FAD engaged?

Good point about the warranty. I know you said no Tazer. I use JScan, which I'm pretty sure isn't as invasive as Tazer/Smartchips (might want to do your own research). Pretty sure you can disable a bunch of stuff with that. I bought the thing to do routine diagnostics for my truck, but has come...
  2. Safe way to keep FAD engaged?

Not an expert on this one, but, I have taken the fad apart to do an axle shaft replacement. One thing you could try is just removing the coupler from the fad. My guess, would be that that shriek is coming from the fad not fully disengaging/engaging. It would be an hour or so worth of work, but...
  3. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

Sorta. That was on my mind while working on this update. I did take measurements and have a plan in mind. The idea is to use shock towers and a brace between the towers that will double as a support for the spare. That step is on hold though. I’m swapping in the RK 4.5” springs to replace the...
  4. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

Thanks for the invite! I’m planning to be there the following weekend, so will need to think about whether I want to drive up two weekends in a row.
  5. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

Installed the rear Anti-Rock setup with Artec brackets this weekend. I decided to try these instead of the ones direct from Rock Jock, because… why not? Had to fabricate some tabs and weld them to the axle. We’ll see how they work when the off-roading season starts again in April!
  6. Bed Chop??!!!

Ok, so update from the weekend. I feel like I got a lot done! I was hoping to be a little further along with the finish work, but its been kinda cold and the bondo has been taking forever to set :/ The biggest challenge I ran into was keeping the heat down for the butt welds. I tried to get...
  7. Bed Chop??!!!

Awesome! Thank you for the info. I’ll do likewise as I go. Congratulations on getting it done, enjoy your trip! Sounds like a fun one.
  8. Bed Chop??!!!

@SigSauerKraut did you do it? I’m getting started this week on mine. If you went for it, any tips?
  9. Because I read this forum

My 20 Rubi has been loyal and caring since day one <3 (Almost 30k, zero issues) I take care of her and she takes care of me. Let’s be real here guys. Hot chicks just need attention… make sure you take her on dates to the mountains and treat her to a few gifts. Your relationship will be...
  10. who is on original oem aluminum steering box?

Original box with 37s and a bunch of time off-road. Haven’t broke it yet! I figure if I blow it up, it’s an excuse to do hydro steer. That logic works right?
  11. What are these ridges just inside the rear axle shaft?

Ya, that was my thinking. I hope to buy myself a couple more years before swapping to 60s. Trussed, gusseted, stronger ball joints and knuckles, and reinforced the heck out of the steering. We'll see. If I break a bunch of stuff this year, at least it will give all the "tons or go home" folks...
  12. What are these ridges just inside the rear axle shaft?

After doing my research, I left the FAD in place. The coupler is 300M and the vehicle is designed to have a FAD. Eventually, I’ll do an Axle swap. For now, no need to introduce more variables.
  13. Which second vehicles compliment the gladiator best?

I had my order in early October, luckily got allocation from the second wave of deliveries! The 86 has the nice front bumper. It’s a fun car, you’re going to love it.
  14. What are these ridges just inside the rear axle shaft?

Dana chromoly shafts in the back and RCVs up front. They should treat me well!
  15. Help me find the perfect awning? Or does it not exist?

Unfortunately I do not have a picture of it, there are a bunch of pictures online though. It’s not attached to the truck, which is actually nice. Half the time when you go to a camp ground, there is like barely room to slide out my RTT. Nice to be able to position it.
  16. Help me find the perfect awning? Or does it not exist?

I researched awnings for a while. Then just decided to get this: https://www.rei.com/product/197430/snow-peak-takibi-hexa-tarp Super easy, can set it up anywhere and use it where my truck can't be parked. Takes up barely any room in the bed.
  17. What are these ridges just inside the rear axle shaft?

Was finishing one, and couldn’t figure out what those were. My guess was clearly off! Did it in two stages and must have forgot the front axles had those tone rings on them too.
  18. What are these ridges just inside the rear axle shaft?

Thank you. That is a part of the car I've never messed with, good to know what those things are :P
  19. What are these ridges just inside the rear axle shaft?

The gold/bronze part in this picture. I imagine they are for heat dissipation, am I right? My guess is that since the rear axles are fully sealed, these provide an avenue to let heat out. The front don't have them, because they aren't sealed.
  20. Which second vehicles compliment the gladiator best?

The XC90 is a great vehicle. It’s what I traded for my Gladiator, and it broke my heart. Unfortunately, it can’t tow much and you can’t track it (well… I did once, and it was fun, but still a little awkward) :/ Perfect compliment in my book, it’s a tow vehicle for the Gladiator and/or a small...
