I have the Artec skid for reference. The stock cross members are replaced with a stainless steel cross member, and then the lowest part of the skid plate is around an inch below the frame. That is about where your stock transfercase skid hangs down.
Honestly, I've never had a problem with the...
What I mean is that the heavy steel supports on these can’t go higher without cutting the pinch welds. The bars are still higher than the frame, which is great, but I drag them through stuff all the time when leaning.
These pictures will sure a bit more detail:
IKR, It’s fun finding the limits of the truck :)
Shrockworks. They are super well built and I have beat the heck out of them. I wish they tucked up a little tighter, but pinch seams are the limiting factor.
First, steel winch cable or synthetic? With steel, you need to stick to the bearing based snatch blocks.
If you are getting serious, it’s generally best to have both kinds (bearing and soft shackle based) of snatch blocks in your vehicle. There are lots of rigging setups that require multiple...
I’m not, though I’ve seen a couple other people use them and they look like it could be nice, just not my cup of tea. Too much air line to store inside the truck :/
Thank you!
I had considered the York when I was planning the build, but didn’t want to bury another accessory in there. It’s grear to hear that it’s been so reliable for you. I’ll keep that in mind for future iterations :)
I hear you, that was my thought too a year ago. Now, my truck is basically a dedicated off-roader that occasionally does chores. So 10 minutes to pull stuff out of the bed isn’t a big deal.
I’m also planning to chop the bed soon and step up to 40s once all my axle upgrades are done. Which means...
So my family likes to make comments about how tall my truck is, particularly when getting in and out. Now I have a picture to remind them that its all a matter of perspective.
Read about the FAD before you delete it. Mines going away when I switch axles too, but keeping it until I’m ready for that investment. The drivetrain is made for the FAD. The RCVs will be strong through there if you leave it, and there are a bunch of skid plate options. Your truss will help too...
Huh, I didn't see the XT, just thought you mistyped. I was referring to the MT 2. Does look more like what your after though :P
I'm glad we misunderstood each-other on that one, I'm going to keep those in mind now if I ever go through with buying "road" tires for my truck :)
