Will be installing the full @Clayton Off Road 3.5 inch overland plus lift in a couple weeks. Need a custom front drive shaft. Who is making the best one right now for the Gladiator? Have seen Adams and Tom Woods. Any testimony out there?
Just a small update. We’re going to add a front driveshaft to this build. @Clayton Off Road told me via email the 3.5” overland plus kit will put this jeep in the neighborhood of 4.25” total suspension lift. I don’t want to be the guy with all the shiny new parts that breaks on the first...
For me, going from mopar 2 inch lift to clayton 3.5 inch overland plus with new fox shocks. From there its a toss up between a baja rack or a front driveshaft. Prob the driveshaft. Lift is going in on 9-22.
Parts ordered:
- Clayton overland plus 3.5” kit minus Front LCA’s and front track bar (already have clayton LCA’s and yeti track bar)
- fox 2.0 shocks with 28.45 in extended reach (for 3-4 inches of lift)
- motobilt front diff cover (the ARB makes contact with my track bar at the dipstick)...
Looking like I will be going with an @claytonoffroad overland plus setup. I already have their LCA’s and a Yeti track bar so we’re looking at just building around that to go to 3.5 inches of lift. Just need to pick the shocks and determine if we need to keep a small puck in there for the winch...
I didnt have an issue. The fit is tight but works and i like how it finished. No issues with the controls, spool, etc. The only thing to consider is just that the wiring is real tight as you can see. Not a big deal for my needs but maybe a consideration. Some others may have more forward placed...
Ok so after riding on this configuration for 90 days or so here is what I have learned.
The axle truss and armor really makes the front end solid. No difference in highway ride.
Steering is vastly improved, if a little heavy. There’s no slop or wander at all and it tracks straight and true...
Its been a while since i checked in on this thread. So glad it seemed to help some folks.
After about 90 days and about 3k miles on the jeep since install, its still one of the best mods I’ve done. Really happy with it. Still turning around 17mpg mixed driving too.
Little River Canyon Rim road, just outside Ft Payne Alabama. Ok, so it wasn’t a dirt track but the family loved it. Been coming here since high school. Zoom in on the point in the foreground, its actually another overlook on the other side of the canyon.
Actually, ford’s initial quality is well behind FCA flagship brands Dodge, Ram and Jeep. Bronco will be plenty cool but I’d be concerned at how long its taken to come to market. I welcome it, will make the jeep brand stay sharp.
Mopar or no car!
F the budget. Get the Fuels. Think about it this way - if the jeep was another $1500 but had the fuels, you would have jumped on it. Those wheels would look sick with that paint, you have a good eye.
Live the dream man. Life is too short.
We should listen to the dude more, and hate less. I bought my JTR with lift and tires. Then I mercilessly researched the next steps. Can’t get it offroad often supporting a family but its heaven when we do. The jeep gets comments and thumbs up on every pavement parade I take. I spent an hour on...
I am looking for a full size spare carrier. I run 37’s and don’t really want to put it under the truck (might fit) Also I’m not a big guy and can’t imagine putting it up on top of an overland rack, just being real. Mounting vertical is ok but a 37 looks kinda goofy vs the bed rail height that...
