Oh, yeah, I've got a 2014 Rubicon X auto that I use for all the fun off road stuff. You can certainly get crazy with the JK as far as lift & tires, but it amazes me where this little thing will go with a 2" lift and true 33s (255/80R17).
Yes, if you don't have a drain plug, you need to remove the cover to drain the diff. Trying to suck out the oil via the fill plug is going to be tough due to; 1) not easily being able to get a suction tube to the bottom of the diff housing, and 2) the viscosity of the oil.
Since the diff...
I run RokBlokz along with Overland side steps and it does a great job. IMO, the RB flaps pretty much disappear if you get black and either turn them around so you can't see the logos, or get the XL/Long and trim them to get rid if the logos (which is what I did).
Sure do.
My next tires will be 255/85R17 Baja Boss ATs (at least that's the plan for the spring).
Cr@ppy picture, but it's the only one I've got of the JK next to the JT.
I think that you might find that a 255/80R17 looks really small after the 2.5" GC lift is installed.
I run 255/80R17 KM2s on a 2-door JKR with a 2" lift, and they work well, but they certainly don't look 'beefy' at all.
I first had the Regular/Long RokBlokz, but I wanted a bit more width due to the wider track of the Mojave. So I 'upgraded' to the XL/Long RokBlokz, but I trimmed both the width and length. They ended up a little wider than the Regular/Long, but the same length as the Regular/Long.
The 'less than reputable' dealers will do anything to get you in the door. Unfortunately (and I don't mean this as an insult) you took all the bait they threw in front of you and they got you and your wife to drive 1.5 hours to the dealership. Chalk it up to a lesson learned and go someplace...
Do you know any place with the 255/85R17 in stock? I'm looking for a set of 5 for my JKR.
I checked with Discount Tire the other day and they said MT is telling them they are at least 3 months out, and none of their secondary suppliers have any either.
Hahaha, you know what they say about assumptions, right? Anyhow, I keep forgetting that some of you only have one Jeep. My Mojave is my 'bombing down old fire roads' Jeep and I just drop it into 4H AUTO if needed. My sunglasses stay in their spot just fine.
For more challenging terrain, I...
Old.
If you click on the link that RanchoShocks provided, it will lead you to this, which explains the change:

You can't turn it off unless you have something like a Tazer (at least I think the Tazer can turn it off, but I'm not sure). I'm sure someone else will chime in.
In the meantime, if you put "won't move with door open" in the search bar, you will get other threads discussing Auto Park.
I run 37 psi per the door sticker as well. For the stock tires, there is no reason not to.
When I took delivery, my tires were at 42-44 psi. I aired down to 37 psi right there on the showroom floor. People were looking at me like I had lobsters coming out of my ears.
You can't sell a 4wd vehicle to the masses with manual locking hubs. Your average owner doesn't want to get out and manually lock front hubs. Plus, you can't have Selec-Trac with manual locking hubs.
There is no issue at all other than the liability you are assuming by removing the TPMS.
I was poking around on wranglertires.com the other day, and they claim to have the newer sensors available. https://wranglertires.com/other-items
Look into the FAD intermediate shaft bushing noise issue.
Here is one thread on it:

More info, like year, engine, trans, any modifications you have made, when it makes the noise, does in change when in 4wd, etc., would help narrow down possible causes. Check to see if your falls under the driveshaft recall range. If it goes away in 4wd, it could be the FAD bushing issue.
