Definitely excited! Definitely waiting for Hydro.
I test drove a Gladiator 2wks ago and wasn't so sure I could live with the longer wheel base. I test drove another one today, and was already able to make the adjustment to the longer wheelbase. I'm ready to buy! But, I'm committed to wait...
I was thinking that too, but they said that Savvy was replacing the suspension. I guess they still might be using the same basic rear structure of the JT's suspension.
Seems like they could've gotten the same result by just modifying + adding a bed to a JL. Why buy a Gladiator with a 137" wheelbase just to chop it down to match a JL's 120" wheelbase?
I think this question ties into this thread well enough. A 2" Mopar lift allows 35s or even 37s. Are you all buying 4 or 5 larger tires for the Gladiator? 5 were standard on Wranglers since the spare was on display. 4 does just fine appearance-wise on the Gladiator.
35s fit between the...
I don't see myself lowering the windshield either. Top & doors off are all I need. But, I've watched a video where they strapped the windshield down (I think a TFL on the Rubicon trail). The hood bumpers for the windshield also serve as strap anchors.
So, I'm wondering about these side mirrors. The brief description makes it sound like a doors off solution with mirrors mounted to the body. Clicking "details" results in a generic page with no mirror details. Has anyone heard or seen anything about these? I love running my JL with front...
I was wondering the same thing. I'm considering a 1/2" spacer in front. That makes the front a 2.5"lift. My JL has a 2.5" spacer lift, and I didn't need to add any extra geometry correction components. From what I've read, 3" and up will require geometry correction, but below is okay as is...
A guy on youtube has his JL on 37s with 2" Mopar lift. He went with less backspace via greater offset which probably prevented rubbing at full turn. At full articulation, he only had minor rubbing that was fixed with heat gun to remold some plastic. Here are his wheel specs ...
Wheel Size...
They should've compared a Sport S to the Ranger ... similar price & just a rear locking (anti-spin) differential on both ... a better comparison all around. I think the main reason Roman gave the "win" to the Ranger was the price tag on the optioned Rubi. The $60k price tag on an optioned Rubi...
Good idea to look at Mopar's wheel offerings! Might be a typo, but wouldn't an 8.0" wheel width with a +12mm offset create 4.472" backspacing? (4" from center + 12mm which is 0.472")
In my opinion Mopar's backspacing on their JL/JT wheels is a good rule of thumb when shopping for wheels...
I agree that too wide of a stance looks gaudy. But, larger tires require a stance that's a bit wider to avoid rub and full turn. The key is finding that sweet spot that's just wide enough without going 'throwback 90's civic'.
Do we know for sure whether or not there's rub with the Mopar lift, 37s, and disconnected sway bar?
The JL could almost handle it. I imagine the JT would have a little more space ... at least in the rear wheel wells.
The Rubicon's Fox shocks have a 2.5" diameter tube ... not to be confused with any added lift. The ground clearance of a stock Sport & Overland is 10" while a stock Rubicon is 11". That difference is only caused by the larger tires on the Rubicon.
This Fox lift kit has longer shocks & springs...
Both are great questions. I have no idea about either. All I know is how FCA has chosen to do things for as long as I've been following their vehicle color releases.
Hydro Blue production timeline estimate via FCA ... August (with black hard top), November (with body colored hard top).
Not sure when ordering can begin.
Looks like the websites aren't quite up to date. They all still say "in transit", but a dealer near me confirmed they have their Gladiators.
I'm going in for a test drive tomorrow afternoon. Anyone want any measurements, a 0-60 time ;), etc?
