Ever want an excuse to drive your Wrangler or Gladiator where you know you shouldn't? A construction zone, privately owned land, a beach, etc?
This recent event sucks for a bunch of people, but sounds like an exciting opportunity to stretch the legs of a new Gladiator and motor around the...
That's not too bad! I'm a little further, so it might be $750 ... still worth considering if I'm just too swamped at work when I can finally take delivery.
When you disconnect the power to the JL doors, they can open without triggering auto park. I haven't had it auto park while in 4hi or 4lo. I'm not sure whether or not I ever came up off of my seat to get a look at things while moving to trigger it though.
Congrats on your new ride! If you...
It's not a "park assist", but rather a feature that stops the vehicle from moving if it believes it might be 'unmanned'. If the driver door is open or it doesn't sense weight in the driver seat, the vehicle automatically goes into 'park' ... even if you manually have it in drive or reverse.
That build will look nice!
I'm not sure it'd be worth it going from 245 to 255 though. Depends how slightly you want your diameter to increase. Going 245/75R17 (~31.5") to 255/75R17 (~32") will only give you an extra ~ 1/2". A set of Rubi takeoffs would probably be cheaper than new 255s...
I think I'm leaning back toward my 80/20 design that will come to $800. Unfortunately, I don't have design software to generate and post an image. It isn't enclosed like a cap, but it will weigh much less with a finished look and lots of mounting options for rotopax, maxtrax, lockable storage...
Hmmm ... going with plexiglass in the rear for visibility? Weather-seal strips on frame at seams where side & rear panels make contact? Gas struts to assist with lift?
What about over-sized items? Would you just remove the whole top if/when needed?
Do you have a cost estimate for parts yet...
What in the world brought you to think of a piano hinge for a topper?!?! I love the creativity! I'm getting a vinyl roll-up tonneau cover, so I won't need such a hinge. But, really creative!
@steffen707 while there's only 1 actual measurement in this post, I think the pics of possible bed attachment points might benefit forum members interested in this thread.
Tops! Canopy / covers / toppers / racks possibilities for Gladiator - Show me!
Since there has been talk of a homemade and/or 80/20 rack/topper, I took some pics of a Sport S with no 'trail rails' and no bedliner. I wanted to see what attachment points are possible.
First, the height from the top of the bed rail to the top of a hard top is 22" at the outer edge, but 23"...
Their email responsiveness is not very good. I inquired about how their rack would attach to a Gladiator ... directly to stock bed rails with c-clamps, or whether it would require Jeep's 'trail rails'.
Here's what I got back ... "I haven't seen the inside of the Gladiator bed yet, so I can't...
They make connectors that allow you to create any angle you want!
I was really thinking about going the 8020 route, but I'll probably go with a Max-Modular rack https://www.max-modular.com/shop-max-modular/alu-max-22-high-aluminum-truck-bed-rack
Is anyone experiencing issues with the Mopar 2" lift?
Early JL owners complained of springs bowing ... due to either poorly made springs or low quality perches. Since I haven't heard anything like this in a while I assume Mopar has this lift dialed in. Can anyone confirm this?
It's a beauty! The inserts will be black from the factory on either a Sport S or Rubicon if you're willing to buy up or down a trim level. I haven't heard of that as a factory option on an Overland trim. If you're set on that trim level, you can always paint the grill inserts black.
The...
