I always liked these contactors, a little overkill for what we do though. At the time I was working in the grid tie industry so my oem discount was a little better. Same with the cable, I usually had DLO cable scraps laying around...
Different part numbers on the AEV website, may just be due to the different size lug nuts from the JK. At one point there was also some discussion about differences in the lug nuts shoulder angles, don't know if that was determined to be an issue or not.
I think it is all about keeping the wildlife out of the campground. Like I mentioned in the original post its probably more about the RV's with outside connections and people washing their dishes in the campsite. They wanted all wash water dumped at the bathrooms. Cataloochee Campground
We had...
I may have to go that route, or get my wife to put that $8000 Bernina to good use :)
The Drifta just packs up real nice. Seems like a nice option that should be available in the US.
Was camping the Smokies a couple of weekends ago and the campground required that portable showers have a catch basin. They are probably more worried about odors from dish cleaning but it started me looking online, apparently the Australians are still leading the way. I know there are some DIY...
I second the comment about about width. I went with a smaller trailer to keep the same width as my jeep. Helps a lot with visibility.
I am well under your estimated weight since I tow an Aliner. Even so at it's weight the rubi springs are poor match for towing.
Try and get something with solar...
I guess I am the odd guy out that never washes his jeep :)
Most people have forgotten how bad factory paint used to be. If you were lucky you would get a year before it would start fading, especially when they started playing with the water based stuff. We warranty painted a lot of fords and...
From Charlotte I usually go through Great Sand Dunes NP via Medano Pass if staying in Trinidad. Fun little trail, not as spectacular as where your going but a fun little warm up with a lot of water crossings. Usually only adds a few hours to the trip. Also a little bit of distraction for those...
I went with a DIY set up with parts from Automation Direct as a comparison. Ended up spending about $170 on a 40x80 T-Slot setup for my shower. They cut to length and the shipping was relatively quick, 2 days. I will need to paint it in the future but ok for now.
The BIllieBars were packaged...
For those with the Diamondback cover, you may run into an issue with the center section clamping down and causing the ends to not seal well. I ended up putting a 13" long piece of 2" angle under the center section with a similar thickness to the mounts. Worked out pretty well. Before there was...

Anyone tried these yet?
Almost ordered the parts from McMaster-Carr but I like the mount billiebars has designed for the awning mount...
As I understand it, the 290 is a discounted 300 for sale through third parties like harbor freight and lowes.
Is is perfectly capable of running my fridge for a couple of days but I used it buy connecting the 120VAC charger to the port in the console (switches off with the ignition) and then...
I bought these last year and they have done fairly well.
If I need more capacity I just series them. Of course $249 is the regular price at Lowes and they also have the case for $39.
You may want to invest in a spare tire if the trailer does not come with it and some way to jack it up. Curt makes a bluetooth trailer brake if you need it. You can also go to Harbor Freight and get some cheap locks for the hitch if you have overnight stops.
If you plan on reselling once you...
If your doing true overlanding then you would probably also want to look at your weight. A winch and bumper can easily get to 200lbs.
I have a winch on my unlifted jeep, not having a lift keeps me off some trails but having it has been very useful pulling up bushes in the yard and looks cool...
